Apple Maps Gets Smarter Flyover and Local Lists
The updated Flyover in Apple Maps now combines aerial imagery with AI processing to deliver sharper, more lifelike views of select cities. If you have ever used the old Flyover and found it serviceable but not spectacular, this is a direct response to that. Apple is not naming every supported city yet, so whether Indian cities feature prominently remains to be seen.
Local Lists is a US-only feature at launch. It surfaces curated collections of trending places, think nearby restaurants that are gaining traction that week, spots good for kids, that sort of thing. Apple says all insights are generated with privacy in mind and are not tied to individual users. Good to hear, though the US-only limitation keeps this out of reach for Indian users for now.

Find My Gets Time-Limited Location Sharing
This one is practically useful. With iOS 27, you can share your location with someone for a defined window: a set number of minutes, hours, days, or until a specific date and time. You can also pause sharing until the end of the day for specific contacts. Planning a surprise party without your partner tracking your location? This is exactly the feature that fixes that.
On Apple Watch, the existing Find Devices, Find Items, and Find People apps are being merged into a single, map-centric Find My app. You can now use Precision Finding in the app to locate your paired iPhone, AirTag (2nd generation), and AirPods Pro 3 directly from the wrist. Precision Finding on Apple Watch requires Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, or Series 9 or later, paired with iPhone 15 or later (not compatible with iPhone 17e or 16e).

Apple Wallet Learns to Split Bills Using Visual Intelligence
Arguably the most interesting Wallet feature in years. Point your iPhone camera at a receipt in Siri mode and it will identify each item, let you select what you ordered, calculate your share including tax and tip, and send payment via Apple Cash. Works from the camera live, from a saved photo, from Messages, or directly inside the Wallet app.
Worth noting: this feature is US-only, requires Apple Intelligence, and Apple Cash is a US service. Indian users will not see this at launch.

The loyalty card pass feature is more broadly useful. Point your camera at any physical card with a barcode, a gym membership, a coffee shop card, a store loyalty card, and it saves it to Wallet as a scannable QR or barcode. No more fumbling. This works with iPhone 12 or later running iOS 27, though it is not available in the European Economic Area.
Apple Pay Gets a Design Refresh and Tap to Share
The checkout interface for Apple Pay online and in-app is being redesigned. Swipe to switch cards. Surface rewards balances, debit account balances, and pay-later options more clearly. Later in the year, users will be able to add funds to an eligible debit card directly through Apple Pay.
Tap to Share is a new in-store feature built on top of Tap to Pay on iPhone. Customers tap their device to the merchant’s iPhone to securely share email, shipping address, or loyalty info, and can then see items in their basket in real time before paying with Apple Pay. It is a genuinely clever flow that cuts down on the back-and-forth at checkout.
Apple has enabled Tap to Pay on iPhone for tens of millions of merchants across over 50 countries. India is among the supported markets, making Tap to Share worth watching for Indian retail when it rolls out.
Video Podcasts Come to Mac and Apple TV
Apple Podcasts has had video podcast support on iPhone, iPad, and Vision Pro for a while now. Mac and tvOS are finally catching up this fall.
On Mac, video podcast playback comes with Picture in Picture support, plus transcripts, timed links, and chapters all in one view. On tvOS, the app gets a complete redesign with a new sidebar, support for creator artwork, and full video playback on the big screen. If you follow video podcasts and watch them on your Apple TV, this is a real quality-of-life upgrade.
A new search within show feature also lands on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Vision Pro, and on the podcasts.apple.com web interface. Find specific episodes inside a show without scrolling endlessly.
iCloud Shared Albums Becomes Actually Useful
Shared Albums has long been the forgotten corner of iCloud Photos. The update changes things. Coming this fall:

Apple Music Gets Lyrics Translation, Pronunciation, and AutoMix
Lyrics Translation gains seven new language pairings this fall, adding English to French, German, Italian, Korean, and Spanish, plus French to English and Japanese to English. Machine learning does the heavy lifting here, with human language experts refining the output to preserve cultural nuance and the actual intent of lyrics. This is thoughtful, not just a raw translate job.
Lyrics Pronunciation lets you sing along when lyrics are in a language you do not read. Five new pairings are added, including English to Hangul and English to Katakana, which is useful for K-pop and J-pop fans.
AutoMix, Apple Music’s DJ-style continuous playback feature, gets smoother transitions. It is also coming to Apple Music on tvOS and HomePod. And Hi-Res Lossless Audio arrives on tvOS for Apple TV 4K users with compatible external speaker outputs. If you have a good speaker system connected to your Apple TV 4K, that is a meaningful upgrade.
Apple Fitness Plus Adds Strong Through Menopause Program
A new three-week program called Strong Through Menopause has launched on Apple Fitness+. It includes weekly Yoga and Strength sessions designed to build strength, improve balance and mobility, and manage stress for users navigating perimenopause and menopause. This complements the perimenopause and menopause support added to Cycle Tracking in iOS 27.

All features arrive as a free software update this fall. Developer beta testing starts today via the Apple Developer Program. Public beta follows next month through the Apple Beta Software Program.
A quick reality check for Indian users: Apple Intelligence requires an iPhone 15 Pro or later, or any iPhone 16 model.
