Acer Veriton RI110 Is a Palm-Sized AI Mini PC That Can Run 120 Billion Parameter Models

A computer small enough to fit in your hand but powerful enough to run some seriously large AI models sounds impressive. Acer says its new mini PC can do exactly that. The company has announced the Acer Veriton RI110 AI Mini Workstation, a compact desktop designed for professionals who need strong AI computing power without depending on cloud servers or using a large workstation.

This is not a regular mini PC meant mainly for web browsing, office work, or basic tasks. Acer says the Veriton RI110 can locally handle AI models with up to 120 billion parameters. This means most of the AI processing can happen directly on the device instead of relying on an internet-based cloud service.

For developers, designers, creators, and other professionals regularly working with AI tools, local processing can offer benefits in terms of speed, privacy, and running costs.

What Powers the Acer Veriton RI110

The Veriton RI110 is powered by an Intel Core Ultra X7 processor 358H along with Intel Arc B390 graphics. This hardware combination is designed to handle demanding tasks such as AI inference, 3D rendering, and content creation.

Despite its compact size, Acer has provided plenty of memory and storage options. The system supports up to 96GB of dual-channel LPDDR5X memory and up to 4TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage.

This should give users enough space and memory to work with large AI models, big datasets, and multiple professional applications at the same time.

The mini workstation runs Windows 11 Pro or Windows 11 Home and is also a Copilot+ PC.

In simple terms, Copilot+ PCs have dedicated hardware capable of handling several AI-based features directly on the computer. This can include features such as live translation, AI-assisted image creation, and smarter search without depending completely on cloud processing.

Hybrid Agentic AI and Acer Qubi Claw

Another interesting feature of the Veriton RI110 is its support for agentic AI.

Unlike a normal AI chatbot that mainly responds to questions, agentic AI can understand a task, plan different steps, and then perform those steps automatically.

For example, an AI agent could research information, prepare a travel plan, organise files, or complete other multi-step tasks.

The Veriton RI110 can run these AI agents locally inside an isolated sandbox environment. This keeps the AI process separated from other parts of the system and can help protect sensitive information.

Acer is also introducing its own AI agent called Acer Qubi Claw with this machine. It comes with one-click installation and several ready-to-use skills.

At launch, Qubi Claw can perform detailed online research, suggest travel itineraries, and convert spoken audio into text notes.

Acer also plans to add support for more AI models and skills in the future, so the capabilities of Qubi Claw could expand over time.

One feature that should interest advanced users is OCuLink connectivity.

OCuLink is a high-speed connection that can be used with external hardware such as graphics cards and fast storage devices.

You can think of it as a dedicated high-speed connection between the mini PC and external hardware, instead of depending on regular USB connectivity.

On the Veriton RI110, the OCuLink connection uses a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface and supports bandwidth of up to 64Gbps.

This means users can connect an external GPU or high-speed NVMe storage while getting much better bandwidth than a standard USB connection.

This could be particularly useful when the mini PC is being used for demanding AI processing, 3D rendering, or other graphics-heavy workloads.

Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, dual LAN ports, and a fingerprint reader for faster and more secure login.
