Reliance 3G tab features and price in India

by Gogi Rana on August 10, 2011 · 51 comments

Reliance communications have also joined the Tablet bandwagon by unveiling their branded Reliance 3G tab and they also claims to be the first Indian company to do so. The Reliance 3G tab supports Wi-Fi and uses the Reliance 3G network for 3G connectivity. This tab comes powered by the Android 2.3 OS and with an attractive price tag. Reliance 3G tab is priced even lower than the MSI Enjoy Tablet that I recently covered.

Now the next question that will come in your mind is since this is a Reliance branded tablet, is it made to work only on the Reliance 3G network? The press release by reliance says you can use it with any 3G data or Voice plan available with Reliance, so one can presume that the Reliance 3G Tab may be locked on to the Reliance 3G network, but since it runs on the Android OS, people will find a way to bypass it and run it on any 3G networks in India.

Reliance 3G tab Features

The Reliance 3G tab houses a 7 inch capacitive (multi-touch) touch screen running on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS. This tablet comes with 512 MB of internal RAM and microSD support up to 32 GB so you can add extra space. 4 GB microSD card comes free when you buy the Reliance 3G tab.

The Reliance 3G tab is light weight at 389 grams and made especially for the Indian users in mind with most of the common features that you see on other tablets. You can connect to the net using the Wi-Fi option or subscribe to the Reliance 3G network available in 333 towns in 13 3G circles in India.

The Reliance 3G tab comes loaded with host of useful and must have applications that is used by almost everyone which includes Twitter, Facebook, Bluetooth, Live TV, Video recorder, YouTube and Documents to go (word, excel, PDF and PowerPoint). This tab comes with two cameras the primary camera which is located at the back is of 2 megapixel resolution and the front camera is of VGA resolution. You can make video calls using the Reliance 3G tab.

This Reliance tablet can do what other tablets can like working with email (push email), connect to social networking sites; keep in touch with your friends, play games, watch streaming videos from YouTube and also get access to excusive services from reliance like Mobile TV. You can even watch Videos or listen to your favourite music on the Reliance tab. Even with such a low cost this tab does come with a built in GPS so no matter where you are you can never get lost.

The press release however does not mention the processor speed which I presume will be around 1 GHz even if it is a bit less when you see the price you would really not care.

Reliance tab doesnt support video calling and neither it has a pen with it…
If u got a budget of 13000/- rupees then this is the best available option in the market..aakash can be a good option but cant say until unless i see it with my own eyes… one more thing is it got a internal memory of 160 MB only.

Dear Bhargav,

Even if you get the converter the tab should support it. Check with reliance help support if USB modems are supported, I doubt so.

i have the plan to buy reliance tab …..its nice….but i want to make with othr data service …if its possible ….in reliance tab…..send me the comments ….plse before 7th of this month

Reply

GoGi September 1, 2011 at 4:39 pm

Dear Raja,

I had a talk with reliance customer service the tab will work only with reliance 3G network, it is locked to work with that only. (Since this is a reliance branded product they will take advantage of it). So far there is no unlock option available that will allow you to switch to other 3G operators.

I would suggest you try the other tablets which works on any 3G networks. Check this, http://www.gogi.in/beetel-magiq-tablet-features-p….
If you are buying any low cost tablets make sure it supports built in 3G.

Hi there, i am planning to buy a Reliance Tab this week end. I was going though the comments so do you mean to say that i can buy a Reliance Tab for 12k with a Prepaid connection ? And i also want to know if reliance has any GPRS PLAN like Aircel, Airtel or Vodafone where in i can recharge for and get 2GB to 4GB FREE DOWNLOAD. Eg : Airtel 98rs you get 2GB. Aircel 98rs you get 4GB. Anything like that plz let me know cos i only use Phones for Internet than Calls.

GoGi August 24, 2011 at 1:02 pm

Hi Matthew,

The plan mentioned above is for both prepaid and postpaid, however you can opt to buy the device and choose other plans. What you are looking for is a 2G plan (GPRS / EDGE) which is a good idea as the price is low.

However do check with the reliance helpline to see if 2G can be used with the reliance 3G tab. Any 3G device will support 2G but this is reliance so it’s always better to crosscheck.

Monthly Pack (Only through eRetailer) after free usage you will be charged 10p/10kb.
Reliance GPRS Prepaid plans
Rs.99/- for 30 days. Browsing up to 2.5GB free.
Rs.29/- for 7 days. Browsing upto 500MB free
Rs.51/- for 15 days. Browsing upto 1 GB free
Rs. 5/- per day. Browsing upto 50 MB free

The Rtab can be used for receiving and making a call but if you want to use just for internet it is up to you.

Features are good. If the Built quality is good then this will be a grand success. I need some clarifications. 1. Is this tab available without any data plan? 2. If so, can we use the tab with other Service providers who offer 3G in Tamil Nadu?

Reply

GoGi August 18, 2011 at 3:29 am

The reliance 3G tab is available without data plan which will cost you 12,999 if you choose the reliance plans you get discount that is all..

As for the tab if it can be used with other service provider, but I am not sure as reliance may have locked it to work on their network. You may need to unlock the tab to make it work. But since this is new it may take some time.
If you want to use with other service providers ask the reliance guys if that is possible.
