Karbonn S1 Titanium handset with Quad core processor launched for 10990

by Gogi Rana on January 25, 2013 · 119 comments

Karbonn too have launched their version of quad core called the Karbonn S1 Titanium. This handset runs on Jelly Bean OS, comes powered by 1.2GHz quad core processor and supports dual SIM.  The handset is priced at Rs. 10,990 as of now, seems like Karbonn have reduced the cost from 12,999.

The Karbonn S1 Titanium model is now listed on the Karbonn Mobiles website and it seems they are still updating as specifications are still not filled in. But the good news is we have two quad cores waiting to be launched.

Micromax were the first to announce the Micromax A116 and now we have another competitor the Karbonn with its S1 Titanium model. Not much of the details are revealed on the Karbonn site as of now.

But here is what is mentioned. The S1 Titanium handset looks different from the A116 with 4 dedicated buttons on the front side. The CPU is 1GHz quad core for smoother operations. The handset runs on Jelly Bean OS and the screen is with qHD resolution. A 1600 mAh battery powers the handset. The screen size is not disclosed yet but looking at the battery mAh it could be 4.3 or 4.5 inches.

Other features included are 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, 3.5mm jack and micro USB port. There is a 5MP rear camera with Auto focus and led flash plus a front VGA camera for video calling. It’s a dual SIM handset and memory details are not known but probably with 1GB RAM.

Karbonn S1 Titanium quad core handset

Visit the Karbonn Mobiles site (click here) for more on the S1 Titanium. I will update the specs as soon as they are updated on the Karbonn website. The handset is with a lower spec like 5MP camera, lower battery mAh and probably with a smaller screen size.  The handset is priced at Rs. 12,999 and is cheaper than than the Micromax A116.

Karbonn S1 Titanium key features and Specifications

As we all know Soc on the phone is the heart of the phone
And many ppl will agree on the fact tht Qualcomm chipset are way n way better
than mediatek chipset n ARM cortex5 consumes lesser power .. karbon is like HTC giving u reliable product always n mmx is like samsung whooing ppl with inflated goodies which are useless … If u compare the designs karbon makes handsets tht reflects HTC in it n mmx copies Samsung qualcom is internationally recognised soc makers so mind it thier product will be rugged n durable rather than mediatek cheap soc …. Karbon will be clear winner in terms of reliablity n price .. but..the shrood mmx will hogg the limelight thru thier marketing policy….

MSM8625Q is the processor name for titanium s1…
but a116′s quad core mtk6589 clearly beats msm8625q……
check the comparison of the processors at:

http://gizbeat.com/836/mtk-mt6588-mtk6588-vs-qualcomms-msm8225q-and-msm8625q-quick-post-part-1/

so paying almost 2k more u get a power packed phone dan a phonw with outdated msm8625q launched in 2008

Hi Gogi bro, I happened read benchmark results and comparison details of Mediatek’s quad core and Qualcomm’s dual core processor on engadget. They say MTK’s quad core is slightly faster than Qcom’s dual core. If that’s true, Isn’t Qcom’s this quad core processor used in Titanium S1 way far better than MTK’s quadcore ? But everything looks amazing on Canvas HD. Any idea of model number of Qcom processor used in Titanium S1?

Karbonn S1 is a competitor to MMX a110 not to mmx a116. Karbonn will launch it’s another quad core phone(around rs.12990) that will surely competitor to mmx a116 and will be winner against it. Because all know karbonn gives better build quality and performance , better service and best of best the phone’s look.If ur smartphone doesn’t have these quality, then u have wasted ur money.

Hello Gogi,
Quick Question n Help!
Would any of these large screen phones can be connected to my HDTV ?
Karbonn S1 or
Micromax Canvas 2 HD or
Samsung Grand (though this is costly than above)

I would like to know atleast if any of them have the MHL kind of option where the MicroSD port can transmit out to HDMI which can be connected to a HD TV!

Connecting and Playing directly from the phone/tablet is very essential feature (atleast i need now),

Any pointers would be grateful..

I am going to wait till june for a cheaper quad core phone for my birthday. What do you think gogi bro should I or shouldn’t?

Reply

gogi January 31, 2013 at 7:31 am

Divya, it will better to wait as we are seeing a lot of handsets being launched. Quad core could get a little cheaper but again there are different chipset being used so there will be the price difference.

Please advice.

I have one suggestion can you create a page with table listing all the recently launched cell phones with information like, brand name, size, ram, processor, os, price(launched and current), battery, resolution etc so that it is easy to compare and remember.

There should be a dedicated link in home page and page should be updated regularly.

If it is MSM8625Q then gpu should be adreno 230 as per http://www.qualcomm.com/snapdragon/processors/s4/specs, then why this is adreno 203?

Gogi, looking at the thing that most of the specs are out now & especially looking at the attractive price tag of 11k, I strongly think that you should have a seperate post on this.
