Wammy Passion ‘Y’ HD 1.2GHz quad core launched for Rs. 16,999

Wickedleak has launched a quad core smartphone called the Wammy Passion ‘Y’ HD for Rs. 16,999. This quad core handset sports a 5 inch IPS screen with HD resolution, 1GB RAM and 8MP AF camera. The Passion ‘Y’ HD sails on Android 4.1 OS and Wickedleak is also promising an Android 4.2 upgrade.

The specifications seem similar to the Micromax A116 which is cheaper than the passion with a price tag of Rs. 13,999. The price difference is too much approx Rs. 3,000.  I am not sure if users will really be interested in it, it’s either MMX or Samsung Galaxy Grand. Moreover many are waiting for the UMI X2 handset that is just too tempting, price and feature wise.

The Wammy Passion ‘Y’ HD comes with 1GB RAM and 4GB internal storage. The screen is 5 inches with 1280×720 pixels resolution. There is 8MP camera that can easily record videos in 1080p resolution. The handset runs on Android 4.1 OS. The battery is of higher mAh capacity (2800 mAh) (plus extra battery pack) compared to 2000 mAh on MMX A116. Wickedleak is also giving free Android 4.2 upgrade which is an advantage. Considering the battery, 5MP front camera and the upgrade the price is still high.
