Logitech MX Keypad Review: Nine Smart Keys That Adapt to Every App

Video editing comes with plenty of repeated tasks. I set up folders, cut clips, work with colour nodes and use familiar export settings almost every day. Developers have their own routine, with commands and AI prompts they use again and again. The Logitech MX Keypad is designed to make these everyday steps quicker.

The Logitech MX Keypad is a compact programmable macro pad with nine customisable LCD buttons. I tested it with DaVinci Resolve and Claude Desktop to see how useful those shortcuts really are. Here is my Logitech MX Keypad review, covering the India price, features and everyday experience.

Logitech MX Keypad Price in India and Availability

The Logitech MX Keypad price in India is ₹15,999. It comes in Graphite and Pale Grey, and Logitech bundles three months of GitHub Copilot Pro+ with every unit, redeemable through the Logi Options+ app.

Discounts do show up online, so the street price can sit below the box price. You can check the latest MX Keypad price here.

When it first arrived, we covered the Logitech MX Keypad India launch in detail. This piece is about how it actually feels on a working desk.

What Is a Macro Pad, in Simple Words?

Think of a macro as a shortcut for a task that normally takes several steps. Instead of using multiple keys and menus, you can assign that action to one button.

A macro pad is a tiny keyboard made only of these shortcut keys. The MX Keypad goes one step further: each key has its own little LCD screen, so it shows an icon or label telling you what that key does right now.

What You Get in the Box

The packaging is simple and easy to follow. Inside you find:

ItemDetails
MX Keypad9 LCD keys plus 2 page buttons
StandAngled stand, 61 g
CableUSB Type-C to Type-C, 1.5 m
PaperworkQuick start booklets and a configuration card

The keypad sits on the stand at a slight tilt, which makes the screens easier to read from a normal sitting position.

Design and Build: Small Enough to Forget It Is There

The keypad measures 91.7 x 77.9 x 25.5 mm and weighs just 96 g. It takes less desk space than a coaster, so it fits beside a laptop or to the left of a full keyboard without any rearranging.

The body uses recycled plastic and has the clean, matte MX family look. Below the nine keys sit two smaller buttons. These are paging keys, which simply means they flip to the next or previous set of nine actions.

One thing worth knowing upfront: this is a wired device only. There is no MX Keypad wireless version right now. It runs off a single USB-C cable, so it never needs charging.

Adapt to App: The Feature That Makes It Click

The standout feature is Adapt to App. It detects which application you are using and changes the shortcuts and icons on the LCD buttons to match.

During my testing, the buttons changed almost immediately when I switched from DaVinci Resolve to Claude Desktop. Going back to Resolve restored the editing shortcuts automatically, without manually changing profiles.

This is what separates it from a basic shortcut pad. A cheap macro board does the same job in every app, so you have to remember what each key does. Here, the screen on top of the key tells you.

Logitech MX Keypad for Video Editing: My DaVinci Resolve Test

Logitech pitches this as a developer tool, but video editors are a perfect fit too. I installed the DaVinci Resolve plugin from the Logi Marketplace inside Options+ and did not set up anything else.

On the edit timeline, one key handles the cut. Press it and the clip splits right at the playhead. It sounds small, yet over a full edit those saved keystrokes add up.

The colour page is where it really impressed me. Adding a serial node normally takes a keyboard shortcut or a right-click. Here it is one labelled key, and the node appears instantly.

Other keys cover outside nodes, adding layers and jumping back to previous nodes. For colour grading, where you add and move between nodes constantly, this saves real time every session.

If you also edit on the go, our look at the Adobe Premiere Android app pairs nicely with a desk setup like this.

Logitech MX Keypad for Developers and AI Workflows

The main audience is coders. Logitech built the keypad with GitHub, and it ships ready for VS Code, GitHub Copilot, IntelliJ IDEA, Claude Code and OpenAI Codex.

An AI agent is an AI tool that can carry out multi-step tasks on its own, like writing code or running commands. The MX Keypad lets you launch agents, fire saved prompts and trigger voice input with a single press.

I set it up with Claude Desktop. One key starts a new chat, another jumps between sessions. Developers can go further, since Logitech says the Claude Code integration can show live details like the active model, cost and context usage on the keys.

Prompt macros are worth explaining too. If you type the same instruction to an AI tool often, such as “review this code for bugs”, you can save it to a key and send it with one tap.

Software: Logi Options+, Marketplace and SDK

Everything runs through Logi Options+, the same app used by Logitech mice and keyboards. Inside it you can assign any shortcut to any app, build multi-step automations and design your own key icons.

The Logi Marketplace has ready-made plugins for 70+ apps, including Zoom, Slack, Figma, Spotify, Notion, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, OBS Studio and more.

For advanced users, the Logi Actions SDK lets developers build their own plugins. An SDK (software development kit) is a set of tools for writing custom add-ons, and this one works with C# and Node.js.

Logitech MX Keypad vs MX Creative Console

The MX Keypad vs MX Creative Console question comes up a lot. The Creative Console pairs the same style of nine-key LCD pad with a separate dial pad meant for creative apps.

The MX Keypad drops the dial and focuses on coding and AI shortcuts. If you mostly scrub timelines and adjust sliders in Photoshop or Lightroom, the dial on the MX Creative Console adds real value.

Logitech MX Keypad vs Stream Deck

People searching MX Keypad vs Stream Deck usually want to know which one suits them. The Elgato Stream Deck range offers more key layouts and is the go-to for streamers running OBS scenes, alerts and audio.

The MX Keypad is smaller and leans toward developers, with native IDE and AI agent support plus deep ties to the Logitech MX ecosystem. Streamers may lean Elgato; coders and editors already on Logi Options+ will feel at home here.

Logitech MX Keypad on Linux

The Logitech MX Keypad Linux question is a common one. Officially, Logi Options+ supports only Windows and macOS, so Linux is not on the supported list today.

Windows laptops running ARM chips are also excluded. Check your processor before buying if you use a Snapdragon-based Windows machine.

What I Liked and What Could Be Better

Pair It With the Rest of the MX Desk

The keypad works best as part of a full MX setup, since all of these share Logi Options+ and app-specific profiles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the MX Keypad limited to nine keys? No. Each app profile supports up to 15 pages, flipped with the two paging keys, which gives over 100 actions per app.

Does the MX Keypad run AI on its own? No. It is a control surface. The AI tools run on your computer and need an internet connection plus accounts with the respective AI providers.

Can I use it with apps that have no plugin? Yes. You can map keyboard shortcuts to any app in Logi Options+, or build a custom plugin using the SDK.

Is the MX Keypad wireless? No. It connects through a USB-C cable only.

Final Verdict

The Logitech MX Keypad makes the most sense for people who repeat the same tasks throughout the day. Adapt to App is its biggest advantage because those nine buttons can serve completely different purposes across programs.

For coders living inside VS Code, Copilot and Claude Code, and for editors grading in DaVinci Resolve, the time saved is real and immediate. Casual users who rarely repeat actions will get less out of it for ₹15,999.

I suggest starting with three or four shortcuts you use regularly and adding more as you get comfortable. That is the easiest way to see whether this small keypad is worth the investment. Get the Logitech MX Keypad here.
