Lava Shark 2 Pro 5G Launched in India at ₹16,699: 50MP Camera, 6000mAh Battery and 120Hz Display

Lava has added another smartphone to its Shark lineup in India. The new Lava Shark 2 Pro 5G comes with a 50MP AI camera, 6000mAh battery, 120Hz display and 6GB RAM.

It sits above the Shark 2 5G that was launched earlier and brings a few useful upgrades, especially in the camera, RAM and storage departments.

The Lava Shark 2 Pro 5G price in India is ₹16,699. The phone is mainly being sold through offline retail stores, with EMI and finance options also available.

Lava is clearly targeting buyers who prefer purchasing phones from local stores and want clean Android software, long battery life and doorstep service support.

You can browse Lava 5G smartphones on Amazon or check the Lava collection on Gogi Tech.

Big 6.75-Inch Display With 120Hz Refresh Rate

The Lava Shark 2 Pro 5G has a simple flat-back design with a square-shaped camera section placed in the top corner.

It comes in two colours: Akash Blue and Nanda Silver. The matte-style finish also gives the phone a cleaner and slightly more premium look.

Shark 2 Pro 5G launched

On the front, you get a large 6.75-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

A 120Hz refresh rate means the display refreshes up to 120 times every second. In everyday use, scrolling through Instagram, WhatsApp, websites and menus should feel smoother compared with a standard 60Hz screen.

However, the resolution is only HD+.

Since this is a fairly large 6.75-inch panel, text, images and videos may not look as sharp as they would on a Full HD+ display. It should still be fine for normal use, but users who watch a lot of YouTube or OTT content may notice the difference.

Lava Shark 2 Pro Processor and Performance

The Lava Shark 2 Pro 5G is powered by the Unisoc T8200 processor.

It is an octa-core chipset manufactured using a 6nm process. A smaller manufacturing process generally helps improve power efficiency while also keeping heat under better control.

According to Lava, the phone can score more than 500K points on AnTuTu.

For normal users, this should be enough for social media apps, video streaming, UPI payments, web browsing and casual gaming.

The phone comes with 6GB RAM along with support for up to 6GB virtual RAM.

Virtual RAM uses part of the phone’s storage as temporary memory. It can help when several apps are running in the background, but it is still slower than physical RAM.

Storage is 128GB, and there is support for a microSD card of up to 1TB.

The phone uses a hybrid SIM slot, so you can either use two Nano SIM cards or one SIM card along with a microSD card.

If you need extra storage, you can check out a high speed microSD card.

6000mAh Battery With 18W Charging

One of the key highlights of the Lava Shark 2 Pro 5G is its large 6000mAh battery.

For most users, this capacity should comfortably last through a full day. Lighter users may even be able to stretch the battery into the second day.

Charging speed, however, is limited to 18W.

Considering the large 6000mAh battery, charging from low battery levels to 100 percent could take some time.

The good news is that Lava includes the charger inside the box.

You also get a USB Type-A to Type-C cable. If you need another cable for your office, car or travel bag, you can check this durable Type C cable here.

Lava Shark 2 Pro Camera: 50MP AI Rear Camera

The phone comes with a 50MP AI rear camera, which is one of the biggest upgrades over the regular Shark 2 5G.

The standard model has a 13MP camera, so the Pro version gets a major increase in camera resolution.

Lava has also added several camera modes including Night Mode, HDR, Portrait, Film Mode, Pro Mode and Motion Photo.

With Pro Mode, users can manually adjust settings such as ISO and shutter speed. This can be useful when shooting in difficult lighting conditions.

Motion Photo captures a short moment around the time the photo is taken, giving you a small moving clip along with the picture.

Video recording goes up to 2K resolution at 30fps.

There is also a Dual View Video feature that can record using the front and rear cameras at the same time. This can be useful for vlogs, travel videos and reaction-style recordings.

For selfies, Lava mentions an 8MP front camera, but the 8MP output is achieved using software interpolation.

In simple words, the software increases the image resolution. This makes the final photo larger, but it does not necessarily mean you get the same level of detail as a native 8MP sensor.

Android 16 With Vayu AI and No Bloatware

The Lava Shark 2 Pro runs Android 16 and comes with a bloatware-free interface.

Bloatware is the term commonly used for unwanted pre-installed apps that often send unnecessary notifications or advertisements.

A cleaner Android experience is definitely a useful feature, especially in this price range.

The smartphone also comes with Vayu AI, Lava’s own AI assistant designed to offer smart everyday features.

Lava promises one Android OS upgrade and two years of security updates.

The update policy is not very long, so buyers planning to use the phone for three or four years should keep this in mind.

IP64 Rating, Dual 5G and Other Features

The Lava Shark 2 Pro 5G has an IP64 rating.

This means the device is protected against dust and can handle water splashes from different directions.

Normal rain or small accidental splashes should not be a major problem, but the phone is not designed to be submerged in water.

Other features include dual 5G support, Bluetooth 5.4, Face Unlock and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

If you want to protect the phone from scratches and accidental drops, you can also check for a protective back cover.

Another interesting feature is Lava’s Free Service@Home program.

With this service, users can request smartphone service support at their doorstep. This can be particularly useful for customers living in areas where authorised service centres may not be nearby.

The processor, display and battery remain the same on both models.

The main advantages of the Pro version are more RAM, double the internal storage and a higher-resolution 50MP camera.

Users who take more photos, install plenty of apps or need more storage may find these upgrades useful.

Those who mainly use their phone for calling, messaging, social media and streaming may find the regular Shark 2 5G more affordable.

Lava Shark 2 Pro 5G Price in India and Availability

The Lava Shark 2 Pro 5G is priced at ₹16,699 in India.

It is available through offline retailers and service providers across India.

Lava is also offering different finance schemes, so customers buying the phone from retail stores should be able to choose EMI and consumer finance options.

The smartphone comes in Akash Blue and Nanda Silver colour options.

Final Thoughts

The Lava Shark 2 Pro 5G focuses on three things that many budget smartphone buyers care about: battery life, clean software and easy service support.

The 50MP camera, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, 6000mAh battery and IP64 rating make it a noticeable upgrade over the standard Shark 2 5G.

There are a few compromises.

The large display only offers HD+ resolution, charging is limited to 18W, and Lava’s software update promise is relatively short.

Still, for buyers looking for an Indian 5G smartphone with a big battery, clean Android software and doorstep service support, the Lava Shark 2 Pro 5G offers a practical overall package at ₹16,699.
