Kia India Records Best-Ever August With 29,042 Units, Sorento Launch Coming Soon

Kia India has recorded its best-ever August wholesale sales since entering the Indian market. The company dispatched 29,042 units in August 2026, registering a strong 48.1 percent growth compared to August 2025.

The numbers show that demand for Kia cars continues to remain strong across different segments, from popular models like the Sonet and Seltos to newer electric vehicles.

The timing is also important. Kia is preparing to launch the Sorento in India on September 4, 2026, just three days after announcing its August sales numbers. The Sorento will also become Kia’s first hybrid SUV in India.

With sales growing and more models joining the lineup, Kia is clearly looking to expand its presence across different price segments in the Indian market.

Kia India August 2026 Wholesale Numbers

Kia dispatched 29,042 units in August 2026, compared to 19,608 units during the same month last year. This is a 48.1 percent year-on-year increase and makes August 2026 the company’s best August performance in India.

Wholesale numbers refer to vehicles sent by the manufacturer to dealerships. These are different from retail sales, which count vehicles actually delivered to customers.

Kia’s performance for the full year is also showing good growth. From January to August 2026, the company recorded cumulative wholesales of 220,991 units, compared to 183,882 units during the same period in 2025.

This works out to a 20.1 percent year-on-year growth.

Kia entered the Indian market in 2019, making the continued increase in volumes an important achievement for the brand.

Seltos And Sonet Continue To Drive Kia Sales

The Kia Seltos continues to be one of the company’s key models and has been averaging more than 10,000 units per month since its January launch.

Kia Range 2026

The Kia Sonet also remains a popular option in India’s sub-compact SUV segment.

Both models offer multiple variants across different price points, helping Kia reach a wider group of buyers.

However, Kia’s sales are no longer dependent only on the Seltos and Sonet. The Carens Clavis and Carens Clavis EV are also helping the company attract buyers looking for practical six and seven-seater vehicles.

This gives Kia a wider product portfolio covering compact SUVs, family vehicles and EVs.

Syros EV Is Also Seeing Good Buyer Interest

Kia has highlighted the response to the recently launched Syros EV as another positive sign from the market.

Electric vehicle adoption is still growing in India, especially outside major cities, so early buyer interest in a new EV model is important for the company.

Kia is also trying to address some of the biggest concerns buyers have when considering an electric vehicle, including the purchase price, battery life and resale value.

The company is offering several ownership benefits with its EVs.

EV Ownership BenefitWhat It Solves
Assured Buyback ProgrammeOffers more confidence about the vehicle’s future resale value
Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS)Helps reduce the initial vehicle price by separating the battery cost
Lifetime High Voltage Battery WarrantyReduces concerns about long-term battery replacement costs

Kia Sorento India Launch Is The Next Big Step

Kia will launch the Sorento in India on September 4, 2026, as it looks to enter a more premium SUV segment.

The Sorento will be Kia’s first hybrid SUV for India and will also be available with a diesel engine.

It will mark Kia’s entry into the premium three-row SUV category, giving existing Seltos and Carens buyers another option if they want to upgrade to a larger and more premium Kia.

Commenting on the August sales performance, Atul Sood, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Kia India, highlighted continued demand for models such as the Seltos and Sonet, along with growing interest in the Syros EV.

The upcoming Sorento is expected to further strengthen Kia’s premium SUV lineup in India.

Its pricing and positioning will be important, as the Sorento will compete in a very different segment compared to Kia’s more affordable SUVs.

Kia India Network Continues To Expand

Strong sales also need a large dealership and service network.

Kia India currently has 910 touchpoints across 418 cities, helping the company reach customers beyond major metro cities.

The company has also expanded its Certified Pre-Owned network to 137 outlets.

These outlets provide services such as instant payments and exchange support, making it easier for existing owners to sell or exchange their cars when upgrading.

A strong used-car network can also improve buyer confidence by making resale and vehicle exchange easier.

Useful Car Accessories For A New SUV

If you are buying a new Kia SUV, a few useful accessories can make everyday driving and long trips more convenient.

These accessories can be used with vehicles such as the Seltos, Sonet, Syros and Carens Clavis.

Kia India’s August performance shows that the company is growing beyond its traditional dependence on the Seltos and Sonet.

Models such as the Carens Clavis, Carens Clavis EV and Syros EV are helping Kia build a broader portfolio covering different types of buyers and powertrains.

The next major development will be the Kia Sorento India launch on September 4, 2026. Its pricing will be worth watching, as it will show how aggressively Kia plans to compete in India’s premium three-row SUV market.
