BGMI International Cup 2026: Korea and Japan’s Best Teams Are Coming to Mumbai for a 1 Crore Showdown

Mumbai is about to host the biggest international BGMI event India has ever seen. KRAFTON India has announced two marquee esports tournaments for the second half of 2026, and together they mark the moment competitive BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA stops being a domestic affair and starts pulling in the region’s strongest teams.

The two tournaments are the BGMI International Cup (BMIC) and the BGMI Showdown (BMSD). One brings Asia to India’s doorstep. The other decides who India’s actual best team is, with no open registration and no shortcuts. Here is everything announced so far, explained in plain terms.

What Is the BGMI International Cup (BMIC)

BMIC is the international leg of KRAFTON’s H2 2026 esports calendar, and this year it lands in Mumbai for the first time. From October 30 to November 1, 2026, the Dome at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (SVP) Indoor Stadium will host the Grand Finals, bringing together 16 elite teams:

  • 6 teams from India
  • 5 teams from Korea
  • 5 teams from Japan

The prize pool stands at INR 1 Crore, and the three-day event is being pitched as a proper live spectacle, with India’s strongest rosters going head-to-head against some of the region’s most decorated BGMI teams in front of a home crowd.

If you are wondering why Korea and Japan matter here: both countries run some of the most technically disciplined mobile esports scenes in Asia, and BMIC is the first time their squads will compete on Indian soil in this format.

What Is the BGMI Showdown (BMSD)

While BMIC is about international rivalry, BMSD is a closed-door battle to crown India’s own best team. It is an invite-only tournament for 48 of the country’s top-performing squads, and there is no open registration. Every slot is earned through performance across three qualifying pathways:

  • KIE Leaderboard (KRAFTON India Esports ranking system that tracks team performance across the season)
  • BGIS (BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA SERIES, KRAFTON’s flagship domestic league)
  • BMPS (BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA PRO SERIES, the pro-tier competitive circuit)

BMSD begins on September 22, 2026, and runs through multiple stages before the LAN Grand Finals from October 16 to 18, also carrying a INR 1 Crore prize pool.

Why This Announcement Matters

KRAFTON India frames this as the point where Indian esports stops being fringe entertainment and becomes mainstream sport. Karan Pathak, Associate Director of Esports at KRAFTON India, said the goal was to make every season bigger than the last, not just in scale but in the quality of competition on show. BMIC brings Asia’s strongest teams to Mumbai, while BMSD rewards the teams that have proven themselves consistently through the year.

Between the two events, KRAFTON is putting INR 2 Crore in combined prize money on the table this H2, along with the country’s first taste of Korean and Japanese BGMI teams competing on home turf.

Gear for Watching or Grinding Through the Season

Both tournaments will drive a wave of interest from players trying to climb the ranks before qualifiers close, and from fans planning to watch the Mumbai finals live.
