The Spice Mi-500 could possibly be a re-branded CSL Mi500

by Gogi Rana on June 9, 2012 · 10 comments

Spice announced some new handsets the Mi-355, Mi-425 and the Mi-500 of these handsets the Mi-500 specifications looks quite interesting with a 5 inch touchscreen display. I got some information about the Mi-500 which could look like a remake of the CSL Mi500.

The CSL Mi500 specifications seem almost identical to the Spice Stellar Horizon version. Spice has not yet released the official specs and what you may hear on the net could just be speculations. On xda forum it’s mentioned that the handset will house a 1 GHz dual core processor.  I think that is not possible given then small price difference between the Spice 425 and 500 model, but if it does have a dual core, that will be good news.

There is also confusion whether this handset will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon or Broadcomm processor and the RAM capacity, plus will it really support ICS. I think it will not be right to comment at this point of time as there are still few days left for the launch.

We will have to wait for the official Mi-500 specifications from Spice. Until then have a look at the Mi-500 (CSL version), the Spice handset could be exactly similar to what you are looking at.

I don't know whether csl mi 500 will be the spice 500 Indian version, but this site http://www.themobileindian.com/news/6935_First-Lo
given the first look of mi 500 you can check.

Yes looks like the CSL phone (look at the menu its in Chinese), this is not the Spice phone but what they are showing is the CSL phone, which probably will look like that.

I have a query, I mean if all these rebranded phones are mediatek processors instead of qualcomm or snapdragon don't u think in hindsight they are equally overpriced considering the specifications may be good but inner hardware is not up to the mark, I mean have seen forums of karbonn and spice on xda and both of them haven't been rooted , isn't the use of cheap mediatek processor to bring down cost instead of qualcomm and snapdragon amounting to these phones being not so cheap as they seem to be, and just my opinion I find that karbonn a9 has better build quality and features than spice mi 425 what do you think?

Mediatek vs Qualcomm, well both are good and known brands but Qualcomm's Snapdragon chipset is what most handsets come equipped with. Not sure how the Mediatek will perform, if that is what the Spice handsets will come with, but would be interesting to find out. As far as built quality is concerned I think it will be the same just some minor design change, specs however is still not clear, so I guess for now the A9 has that advantage.
