The DWC Vayu Bison from Delhi Watch Company is not just another aviation-style watch. Its design takes inspiration from the clock found inside the cockpit of the legendary MiG-21 fighter aircraft.
The original cockpit clock featured two small sub-dials placed vertically, one at the top and another at the bottom. DWC has recreated a similar layout on the Vayu Bison and packed it inside a wristwatch priced at Rs 6,999.

Why Does the Vayu Bison Look Like a MiG-21 Cockpit Watch?
The clock inside the MiG-21 cockpit had two sub-dials positioned at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock.
DWC follows a similar idea with a vertical chronograph layout. Instead of placing the chronograph counters next to each other, they are arranged vertically on the dial.

What Is a Mecaquartz Chronograph?
The Vayu Bison uses the Seiko TMI VK61 mecaquartz movement.
Mecaquartz combines some of the advantages of a quartz movement with the feel of a mechanical chronograph.
Normal timekeeping is handled by a battery and quartz crystal. This means the watch remains accurate and does not need manual winding like a mechanical watch.
The chronograph section uses a mechanical module.
This gives the stopwatch hand a more satisfying action when starting and stopping, while resetting the chronograph produces the quick snap back to zero normally associated with mechanical chronographs.
