Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge Launched

Samsung Mobiles have launched two new premium flagship models the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge at MWC 2015. The S6 / S6 Edge will hit the stores next month in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage options price starting from €699 (approx Rs. 49K) onwards.

The Galaxy S6 houses the Exynos 7420 octa core chipset (2.1GHz Cortex A57 quad core + 1.5GHz cortex A53 quad core) coupled with Mali T760 GPU. It is running Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with 3GB RAM and optional 32GB / 64GB and 128GB storage card. There is no micro SD card slot.

The S6 handset with a metal frame sports a 5.1 inch super AMOLED screen with 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution and it comes with corning gorilla glass 4 protection. Weight is just 138 grams and handset is 6.8mm thick. The Galaxy S6 comes packed with a 16MP AF OIS camera with 4K video recording capabilities and a 5MP camera on the front that can also shoot 1080p videos.

Key features are 4G, 3G, Wi-Fi (a/b/g/n/ac), NFC, IR, Bluetooth, finger print scanner with PayPal certified / Samsung pay (MasterCard / visa certified), heart rate sensor and GPS with GLONASS / Beidou. The handset gets power from a 2550 mAh battery.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge also comes packed with the same stuffs as seen on the Galaxy S6. The S6 Edge is 7mm thick and weight is 132 grams. This handset is using a 2600 mAh Li-ion battery. Key difference between the S6 and S6 Edge is the curved screen that gives it a completely unique look and feel.

The edge is slightly different when compared with the Galaxy Edge. The curved screen will show notification, colour hint (you can assign different colors to users, it will blink giving you hint who is calling – works best when the handset is placed face down or in pocket when you are not able to see who is calling.

At the MWC event Samsung mentioned that the S6 / S6 Edge when compared to iPhone charges much faster, shoots better images / videos and S6 / S6 Edge doesn’t bend.

The Galaxy S6 Edge will cost more than the Galaxy S6. No word about the launch of these handsets in India, but when they do it will cost over Rs. 50,000.
