Primebook Laptop: Which Company Makes It?

Many people searching for Primebook also ask “Primebook laptop which company”.

Primebook is an Indian startup that develops laptops as well as its own operating system called PrimeOS.

PrimeOS is based on Android. At the same time, the interface has been designed to work more like a laptop, with features such as a desktop-style taskbar, multiple windows and keyboard shortcuts.

According to the company, Primebook has crossed 1 lakh users and its products are available through more than 300 retail stores.

The latest Primebook laptops are manufactured and assembled in India in partnership with Zetwerk, a contract manufacturing company.

MediaTek Genio 720: What Has Changed?

One of the biggest upgrades is the processor.

Older Primebook laptops used the MediaTek Helio G99, which was originally designed for smartphones.

The new Primebook 3 Max uses the MediaTek Genio 720, a processor from MediaTek’s IoT range. These chips are designed for products such as smart displays, kiosks and computing devices.

The Genio 720 has an octa-core CPU consisting of:

  • 2 x Cortex-A78 cores running at up to 2.6GHz
  • 6 x Cortex-A55 cores running at up to 2.0GHz

Graphics are handled by the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, clocked at up to 1.1GHz.

The processor is built using a 6nm manufacturing process, which should help improve power efficiency.

Dedicated NPU for AI Tasks

The Genio 720 also comes with an integrated NPU, or Neural Processing Unit.

In simple terms, an NPU is a dedicated part of the processor designed to handle AI-related work. Instead of using the main CPU for everything, the NPU can take care of tasks such as speech recognition and smaller AI models.

MediaTek rates the NPU at up to 10 TOPS.

TOPS means Trillion Operations Per Second and is commonly used to measure AI processing performance.

Ten TOPS is not close to what expensive AI laptops offer, but having a dedicated NPU in this price range is still interesting.

Primebook claims the new hardware can deliver up to 40% better performance compared with the previous generation. This is a company claim, so actual performance will depend on real-world testing.

LPDDR5 RAM and UFS Storage

The Primebook 3 Max comes with 8GB LPDDR5 RAM.

Earlier Primebook models used LPDDR4X memory. LPDDR5 offers faster data transfer while also being more power efficient.

This should help when running multiple apps or keeping several browser tabs open.

Storage is 128GB UFS.

UFS, or Universal Flash Storage, is commonly found in smartphones and is faster than the eMMC storage still used in some budget laptops.

There is also a MicroSD card slot that supports cards of up to 1TB.

Display, Design and Build Quality

The Primebook 3 Max has a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Brightness goes up to 250 nits.

The screen also gets a matte anti-glare finish, which should help reduce reflections from indoor lights and windows.

Primebook has upgraded the design with a metallic body, slimmer profile and matte finish.

The laptop weighs 1.597kg, which is reasonable for a 15.6-inch machine.

The 250-nit brightness should be fine for indoor use, but visibility may become difficult outdoors or under strong sunlight.

Primebook Battery Backup and Type-C Charging

Battery life is another important feature of the Primebook 3 Max.

The laptop comes with a 60.3Wh battery, and Primebook claims it can provide up to 12 hours of battery life.

People searching for “Primebook battery mAh” should note that laptop batteries are normally measured in Wh, or watt-hours, rather than mAh.

Wh gives a better idea of the total energy stored in the battery because it also takes voltage into account.

Charging is handled through USB Type-C, with support for up to 36W charging.

If you want an additional Primebook laptop Type-C charger, look for a USB-C PD charger rated at 36W or higher.

You can browse USB-C PD laptop chargers here.

Ports and Connectivity

Port selection is quite good for a laptop in this segment.

The main USB-C 3.2 port supports charging, OTG and external display output.

OTG simply means devices such as pen drives, keyboards and other accessories can be connected directly.

Port or FeatureDetails
USB-C 3.2Charging, OTG, display out via Type-C to HDMI cable
USB-C 2.0Accessories and data
USB-A 3.2Faster pen drives and external drives
USB-A 2.0Mouse, keyboard, basic accessories
Audio3.5mm stereo jack
Storage slotMicroSD, up to 1TB
WirelessWi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3

There is no regular full-size HDMI port.

To connect an external monitor or TV, you will need a USB-C to HDMI cable.

A basic USB-C to HDMI cable should do the job.

Webcam, Speakers and Keyboard

The Primebook 3 Max comes with a 5MP webcam capable of recording video at up to 1440p at 30fps.

That is better on paper than the basic 720p webcams commonly seen on budget laptops.

There are also dual microphones with software-based noise cancellation, which should help during online classes, video calls and meetings.

Audio is handled by dual stereo speakers.

The laptop gets a backlit keyboard with three brightness levels.

Its touchpad also supports multi-finger gestures for scrolling, switching between apps and other shortcuts.

PrimeOS Upgrades: PrimeOffice, Linux Apps and More

Hardware is only one part of the Primebook 3 Max story.

PrimeOS has also received several important upgrades.

PrimeOffice

PrimeOffice is a free office suite designed to work offline.

It includes three applications:

  • PrimeDocs
  • PrimeSheets
  • PrimePresent

Primebook says it developed PrimeOffice because the Android version of Microsoft Office has some limitations when used on larger displays.

The company claims PrimeOffice provides more than 90% of similar functionality.

PrimeLinux

Another major addition is PrimeLinux.

It gives users access to a Linux terminal along with several popular Linux applications.

A terminal is basically a text-based interface where commands can be entered to install tools, manage files and run software.

Supported applications include:

  • VS Code
  • GIMP
  • LibreOffice
  • Firefox
  • Arduino IDE
  • DBeaver CE
  • TablePlus
  • Postman

This could make the Primebook 3 Max more useful for engineering students, beginner programmers and anyone learning software development.

PrimeSecurity

PrimeSecurity is designed to detect suspicious or fake applications.

It can warn users if an app does not have an authentic developer signature.

The feature can also control apps that consume too much memory or battery while running in the background.

Task Manager

PrimeOS now includes a Task Manager as well.

It displays CPU and RAM usage and lets users choose which applications are allowed to start automatically.

PrimeAGNT: Built-In AI Agent

One of the more unusual features is PrimeAGNT, which is also called Operator AI.

Unlike a regular chatbot, an AI agent is designed to actually perform tasks.

You give it a goal, and the system can understand what is displayed on the screen, move between apps and complete the required steps.

Primebook says technology behind the feature was published by the Indian Patent Office in August 2026.

How useful PrimeAGNT is in normal everyday use will depend on how reliably it can understand apps and complete tasks.

PrimeX Cloud PC

Primebook also offers PrimeX Cloud PC as an additional service.

A cloud PC is essentially a computer running on a remote server. You connect to it over the internet and use it from the Primebook.

This can be helpful when you need desktop software that is not available directly on PrimeOS.

Primebook 3 Max vs Primebook 2 Max

The older Primebook 2 Max is now available at a lower price, so buyers may be wondering whether it still makes sense.

The Primebook 3 Max makes more sense for users interested in Linux applications, heavier multitasking and the new AI features.

The Primebook 2 Max on Amazon can still be a good option for basic browsing, schoolwork and video streaming if you want to spend less.

Primebook also has smaller models.

The 14.1-inch Primebook 2 Pro offers a more portable form factor.

There is also the compact 11.6-inch Primebook 2 Neo, which should be easier to carry around for college or travel.

Is the Primebook Laptop Good or Bad?

Searches such as “Primebook laptop is good or bad” and “Primebook laptop kaisa hai” are quite common.

The answer really depends on what you expect from the laptop.

On paper, the Primebook 3 Max improves several areas compared with previous models. It gets faster LPDDR5 memory, a newer processor, metallic construction, a better webcam and a dedicated office suite.

Linux support is another useful feature, especially for students who are learning programming.

There are some limitations too.

PrimeOS is still based on Android, which means regular Windows-only programs cannot run directly on the laptop.

This machine is also not designed for heavy video editing or serious gaming.

The 250-nit display is another limitation if you plan to use the laptop outdoors.

At ₹35,990, the Primebook 3 Max also comes quite close to the price of entry-level Windows laptops.

The biggest difference is the operating system.

Primebook gives users a lighter, Android-style experience with long battery life, while Windows laptops offer much broader software compatibility.

A detailed Primebook laptop review will be needed to see how the new Genio 720 processor, PrimeOS features and battery perform in real-world use.

Final Thoughts

The Primebook 3 Max is clearly a much more capable laptop than earlier Primebook models.

The new MediaTek Genio 720 processor, dedicated NPU, LPDDR5 RAM, Wi-Fi 6, 5MP webcam, PrimeOffice and Linux application support make it far more versatile.

It could be particularly interesting for students, beginner programmers and first-time laptop users who want a simple operating system and good battery life.

The regular price starts at ₹35,990, while festive offers can bring the effective price down to around ₹33,490.
