Nikon NIKKOR Z 120-300mm Price in India
The NIKKOR Z 120-300mm f/2.8 TC VR S carries an MRP of ₹14,99,995. Nikon India has announced availability from mid-November 2026 through Nikon outlets. A specific sale date has not been announced.
This is a full-frame/FX-format mirrorless lens in Nikon’s premium S-Line range. Its price and size put it firmly in the professional category, where access to a bright aperture and quick changes in reach can matter more than portability.
Built-in Teleconverter Takes the Lens to 420mm
The native zoom range is 120–300mm with a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture. Engaging the built-in 1.4× teleconverter changes it to 168–420mm at f/4. The longer reach therefore comes with a one-stop reduction in the maximum aperture.
For a bird that moves farther away or an athlete on the opposite side of the field, the converter provides a tighter view without fitting a separate accessory. The f/2.8 setting remains useful for low-light action and subject separation when the converter is disengaged.
Autofocus, Stabilisation and Optical Coatings
Nikon’s Silky Swift VCM autofocus system is designed for fast, precise and smooth focus control. Intended subjects include birds in flight, wildlife, athletes, vehicles and performers.
The lens offers up to 6.5 stops of Vibration Reduction with compatible Synchro VR cameras. Nikon’s stated test uses the Z6III at the telephoto end in Normal mode, with the teleconverter disengaged. This rating concerns camera shake; a fast shutter speed is still needed to freeze a moving subject.
Meso Amorphous Coat and ARNEO Coat help reduce ghosting and flare. These coatings are useful when a subject moves between shade and strong backlight. The S-Line optical design also targets detail across the frame and smooth background blur.
Lighter Body and Professional Handling
At approximately 2,735g, the lens is about 515g lighter than the earlier AF-S NIKKOR 120-300mm f/2.8E FL ED SR VR. It remains a substantial lens, but the lower weight can make long assignments easier to manage.
Both zooming and focusing are internal, so the barrel length stays constant. The magnesium-alloy construction includes extensive sealing for dust and drip resistance, though this is not a guarantee against water or dust in every situation.
The tripod collar supports Arca-Swiss screw-type quick-release clamps. Nikon advises against lever-type clamps because they may not hold the lens securely. Front screw-on filters, rear slip-in filter holders and the HB-120 bayonet hood add further handling options.
For a different Nikon Z wildlife setup, the NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR offers a longer native zoom range with a smaller maximum aperture. Check out the NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR.
