Lenovo Vibe X2 charging case review – portable charger specially made for the X2

Lenovo had launched the Vibe X2 in India a few days back. It is a layered octa core smartphone; one of the layered accessories the Vibe X2 charging case is now available for Rs. 1,999 on Flipkart. The case is a portable charger that adds a new layer and provides almost double the battery backup.

Box Pack
the Lenovo vibe X2 battery case box is pretty compact and houses a single 2300 mAh battery charging case, data cable, quick start guide and warranty card.

I got it for Rs. 100 as per the Lenovo Vibe X2 launch day offer.

Design
The case is slim with 5.1mm thickness however this adds up to the 7.3 mm thickness on the Vibe X2. Attaching this case not only increases the thickness but also the weight. It makes the handset bulky. Because of transparent (case) sides the shaded layers are visible and doesn’t spoils the look.

You can check the Lenovo Vibe X2 review here. The X2 handset weight is 120 grams and is about 7.3mm thick. After attaching the battery case the weight becomes 203 grams and thickness increases to 12.8mm.

The case is made of good quality plastic, white color with matte finish and gets dirty easily. Build quality and finishing is very good. It is with 2300 mAh battery. The inside is made of soft material with specifications clearly mentioned along with a transparent film. It looks tempting and you probably might want to remove it, but hold on, don’t do it, you need to attach the case as is with the handset.

There is power button, battery level LED indicators and micro USB port to charge the battery case. You will find 4 small connector pins on the inside of the case that will connect with the connectors on the X2 smartphone.

Performance
Technically this is a portable charger. Once connected it does not do anything, you need to press the power button and it will then start charging the handset. It is a battery extension and can come really handy.

You can charge the case as standalone or when connected with the Vibe X2 handset. If you want you can also power on the case so it charges the X2 phone while the case itself is charging.

Battery case performance
The Lenovo Vibe X2 comes with 2300 mAh built in battery and the case also houses a 2300 mAh battery. In total you will get around 4600 mAh backup. As per my usage I am getting almost 24 hours of battery backup with my Vibe X2 and now when the battery goes low I can connect the battery case and add another 22 hours of backup.

I had fully charged the X2 smartphone as well as this charging case. I am currently using the handset without the case (as it is bulky). It’s been 16 hours and battery is at 35%, I will connect the case once the battery is at 10% and then update.

It took 2 hours 15 minutes to charge the case from 0% to 100% using wall charger. When fully charged the 4 LED’s will switch off.

Verdict
If you had bought the Vibe X2 on the launch day from Flipkart you can buy the X2 battery case for Rs. 100. For others it will cost you Rs. 1,999. Vibe X2 does look good but many of you may not be happy with the battery backup, in that case the battery case is a good option to have.

Lenovo Vibe X2 charging case is available for Rs. 1,999.
