Ever finished a game of badminton and then realised your fitness tracker never recorded it? The latest Google Health app update is designed for exactly this situation. Fitbit Air and supported Pixel Watch models can now recognise more than 100 activities, while the new Health Guardian tools help track longer-term health patterns.
Google says it has introduced over 55 features and fixes since the older Fitbit app was replaced by Google Health. The biggest changes are smarter automatic workout tracking, more personalised coaching, and monthly trend reports for eligible users.

Health Guardian on Fitbit Air
Health Guardian looks for gradual changes in your health rather than treating a single reading as the whole story. Google introduced the feature on Pixel Watch 5 and is bringing supported trend reports to Fitbit Air.
Blood pressure trends
Fitbit Air uses pulse and movement patterns to estimate how blood pressure may be changing over a month. No arm cuff or manual calibration is needed for these trend estimates.
Insulin resistance trends
The second report looks at patterns related to insulin resistance over several weeks. Insulin resistance describes how effectively the body responds to insulin. This feature does not need a blood sample.
Turn on the relevant tools in Google Health and wear Fitbit Air long enough to meet the monthly data requirement. A report is then prepared at the start of each month. Google Health Coach can explain changes and adjust exercise or lifestyle suggestions for Premium members.
Important: These are wellness estimates, not medical tests. They cannot diagnose diabetes or high blood pressure, replace a cuff monitor, or guide medication changes. Availability also depends on country and device.
| Health Guardian feature | Fitbit Air | Pixel Watch 3, 4, 5 |
|---|---|---|
| Blood pressure trend | With Premium | Supported as described by Google |
| Insulin resistance trend | With Premium | Supported as described by Google |
| Trend report | Monthly | Monthly |
| Cuff or blood sample | Not required for estimated trends | Not required for estimated trends |
Fitbit Air Can Automatically Detect Over 100 Workouts
This is probably the most practical part of the Google Health update. Where earlier automatic tracking covered roughly 10 activities, the improved system can recognise more than 100. These include swimming, strength training, tennis, badminton, football, cricket and other sports.
Google calls its new approach contextual reasoning. Along with heart rate, the software considers your workout history, familiar routine and corrections you previously made. It can also use location when permission is given.
For example, if you visit the gym at the same time every Tuesday, that history helps the tracker identify the workout. Google claims the new approach is nearly twice as accurate and reduces missed sessions by more than half. These are Google’s reported improvements, not independent test results.
When does the activity get saved?
| Setting | Default behaviour |
|---|---|
| Minimum workout duration | 15 minutes |
| Heart rate | Needs to remain raised during the activity |
| Phone notification | Generally within 30 minutes of the session |
You can confirm or correct a detected activity in the app. Those corrections help it recognise similar sessions later. That is especially useful with Fitbit Air, which has no screen or workout-start button.
Which Devices Are Getting the Update?

Google Fitbit Air Price and Features in India
The Fitbit Air costs ₹13,999 in India and went on sale on 2 October 2026. You can check Fitbit Air on Flipkart or browse available listings. It comes in Obsidian, Berry, Lavender and Fog.
| Specification | Details |

Multi-device support also lets you switch between a Pixel Watch and Fitbit Air without losing your tracking history.
Fitbit Air vs Whoop: How the Pricing Differs
| Feature | Fitbit Air | Whoop |
|---|---|---|
| Starting India cost | ₹13,999 for hardware | Around ₹21,000 or higher |
| Payment model | Basic tracking without ongoing subscription | Membership-based |
| AI Coach | With Google Health Premium | Part of membership |
| Display | No | No |
| Health Guardian trends | Available with Premium | Not applicable |
Fitbit Air has a lower upfront cost, particularly if basic health tracking is enough. Whoop has its own approach to coaching and recovery, so the right choice depends on which information and subscription model you value.

What This Update Means
A tracker becomes more useful when it can remember the workout you forgot to start. That is the real attraction of the latest Fitbit Air and Pixel Watch update. The Health Guardian reports offer another layer of longer-term wellness information, though users should treat those results as guidance rather than medical diagnosis.
