The Zopo ZP900 Leader runs on a dual core processor, 1GB RAM and 5.3 inches qHD screen. The handset is priced at Rs. 15,999, is it worth it, find out.

I got a demo piece that was extensively used and had few scratches on the screen on the bottom side. The box pack that I got contained the handset, charger, usb to micro USB cable and earphones. I believe the customers will get the user manual and warranty card too.

The ZP900 – the hardware
The dual SIM (with dual standby) handset is powered by MT6577 processor clocked at 1GHz with PowerVR SGX 531 GPU, the same hardware that the Micromax A110 houses. The RAM on ZP900 is 1GB and there is internal storage of 4GB of which 503MB is assigned for apps storage and 2.07GB as internal storage for user.

You can choose the internal storage or the external storage as a default install location for new apps, however all apps are store on the 503MB space but you can move the app to external SD card. This also means you cannot install apps that are bigger than 300MB in size.

The 5 point multi touch Display screen is amazing. The touch is very smooth and I found it better than as experienced on the A110. The resolution again is really good at 960×540 pixels and the viewing angle is good enough.

The 3.5mm jack is placed on the top, the power and volume rockers on the right and micro USB port on the bottom side. On the front side there is a physical dedicated button in the center (at the bottom) along with two touch sensitive buttons with led backlight.

Performance
Because of the 1GB RAM running Android ICS (version 4.0.4) there is  a slight improvement in the the benchmark score which are as follows.

Quadrant – 1st test – 2649, 2nd test – 2718.
Antutu – 1st test – 6548, 2nd test – 6535.
Nenamark2 – 23.9fps.
Linpack – single thread avg – 37 multi-thread avg – 56.

Gaming
This handset is capable of playing games that we have already tested on Micromax A110, however for bigger games you may need to root the device to gain access to internal or external storage.

Camera
The camera is of 8MP resolution. Exactly similar to as seen on the Micromax A110. The close up images went out of focus, the camera was not able to focus properly, I think it could be an issue this handset. But overall the quality is similar to A110.

You can record videos in 720p resolution. You cannot view videos in 1080p resolution nor can you record videos in 1080p resolution using the Zopo ZP900 Leader handset (as stated on the box pack). You can check out the sample 720p video at the end of the article, the microphone sound recording is too low.

Battery
The 2300mAh battery has enough power to get the handset going for an easy 24hours. I did not find any batery calibration issues on this handset. So far its been over 24 hours, have not recharged since I opened the box (was at 95% at that time) and now its 43%.

Others
The voice clarity is good and the sound is quite loud. I got a lock on the GPS within 10 seconds. The handset comes with magnetic, proximity, Gsensor and light sensors. There is also the WiFi direct option.

The handset is slightly bigger (length wise) than the A110 and a bit heavier. Overall the performance is impressive.

Zopo ZP900 Leader review
I am pretty impressed with the handset. It feels like the Samsung Galaxy s3. The built quality is really good and the slight heaviness actually gives you more confidence holding the handset. The touch is just superb and so is the screen quality.

Technically it is the same A110 with some improvement. The difference between ZP900 and A110 is the 5.3 inch qHD screen, magnetic sensor, light sensor, 2MP front camera, 2300 mAh battery and 1GB RAM. If you look at the price A110 comes for around 10K whereas this handset is for Rs. 16K. Would you spend 6K extra for these extra features?
