WhatsApp will soon implement voice calls

WhatsApp that was recently acquired by Facebook will soon implement a new feature – voice calls. According to Jan Koum chief executive, WhatsApp this feature will go live in 2nd quarter 2014.

Facebook bought WhatsApp for $19 billion, you can get it for free – just download it. Whatsapp is the most popular messaging platform in India. With Voice call feature (using VOIP) it will make it even more exciting.

This option will be enabled within few months. As more and more people have started using Whatsapp the number of SMS sent, have declined. Am not sure how the Mobile networks would react to users using the Whatsapp voice call instead of the traditional mobile call.

Jan Koum had also mentioned that they are working with different carriers to bring value to end users. Let’s see where this lead to, but definitely a good news for WhatsApp users. As for now there are about 330 million users using Whatsapp, daily.
