The Wickedleak Wammy Ethos tab 3 7 inch tablet comes powered by quad core processor running Android 4.2. This tablet supports 3G and houses dual SIM slots (normal SIM). The Ethos III is priced at Rs. 9,990.

Box Pack
Inside the box you will find the tablet, travel charger, OTG cable, data cable and User guide. Earphone is not included.

Design, Display and OS
This 7 inch tablet is 9.26mm thick with that typical tablet design. There no dedicated navigation buttons on the front. Since this tab supports voice call, there is the in-call speaker on the top and mic at the bottom. The rear is white color with glossy finish with curvier edges.

On the left there is HDMI port, 3.5mm audio jack and micro USB port, on the top there is the power button, volume rockers and micro SD card slot. There is a small panel opening on the rear where you will find the dual SIM slots. On the rear there is a 5MP AF camera with LED flash and speaker out vent. Tablet weight with battery is 313 grams.

The screen is 7 inches IPS LCD with 1024×600 pixels resolution however because of absence of dedicated navigation buttons the actual screen size is 976×600 pixels. Touch is good, smooth, however the viewing angles are not that good.

The Wammy Ethos III runs on Android 4.2.1. There is just an accelerometer and a light sensors, proximity and magnetic sensors are missing.

Memory and Storage
This tab comes with 1GB RAM of which 652MB is available on the first boot and of the 8GB storage 1.4GB is assigned for apps (1.3GB free) and 4.74GB as internal storage. You can use a micro SD card, however apps cannot be installed or moved to the external storage. OTG is supported – you might have already guessed it (the OTG cable in the box!).

Performance
The chipset used is MediaTek MT8389 quad core clocked at 1.2GHz with PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU. The performance is good, did not find it lagging.

Benchmark scores

  • Quadrant Standard – 4059.
  • AnTuTu – 13456.
  • Vellamo – HTML5 1489, Metal 482.
  • Nenamark 2 – 51.2 fps
  • Multi touch : 5 points.

Gaming
I installed the Asphalt8 on the internal storage – you cannot install apps on external storage. I set the game play to low visual level and it played well. There is limited space of 4GB and hence you will not be able to install many high end games.

Camera
The rear camera is 5MP AF with flash and front camera is 2MP. The camera quality is okay, close-ups are good but long shots are blurry. The rear flash is also not that good. Front camera quality is good. Check the sample images at the end of this review. Rear camera can record 1080p videos – the quality is okay.

Others
The loudspeaker sound is low, in call speaker sound is good and clear. You can use Bluetooth headset. 3G, Wi-Fi worked well. Got the first GPS lock in about 30 seconds. I did not find any other issues with this tablet.

Battery
The 3500 mAh battery looks good. I ran the benchmark apps and played some games for about 1 hour 9 minutes – the battery dropped by 25%. You can expect 3 to 4 hours of continuous usage on a full battery charge.

Verdict
The hardware (quad core MT8389) looks good and dual SIM with 3G support is added advantage. However the screen viewing angle is disappointing and there are just two sensors accelerometer and light sensors. There are other tablets using the same chipset available in the market for a price of over 11K. Wammy Ethos Tab 3 will cost you about 10,300 with shipping. Swipe MTV Slate tablet is its closest competitor with same hardware (but single SIM) for Rs. 12,999.
