The Wammy Desire is a dual core tablet with Mail 400 GPU running Android Jelly Bean OS. The tab is priced at Rs. 6,948. Check out the review to find out more.

Wammy Desire Box pack
Inside the box you will find the tablet, charger, USB to micro USB cable, OTG cable, user manual and a screen guard. It seems Wickedleak have stopped giving earphones.  A capacitive pen is also included in the box pack.

Design
The tab comes with white, silver and black (front screen) colour combination.  The rear side is white colour with dotted texture, the side are silver coloured and the front is all black.  There are no buttons on the front side. There is a front camera on the front size (top – center).

The built quality is good, sturdy and easy to hold. The tab is not very thin, almost similar to the Allwinner A10 and A13’s thickness.  The power button is on the left side along with volume rockers and 3.5mm jack.

Inside the hood
The Wammy Desire houses the same CPU / GPU as on the Wammy Athena i.e. the (Rockchip – RK30board) CPU clocked at 1.5GHz and Mali 400 GPU. There is 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. Of the 8GB 1GB is assigned for apps and around 5.3 GB for user storage.

There is Wi-Fi, microUSB and HDMI port. The micro SD slot has got plastic compartment (please check the video).

Performance
Being a dual core no doubt the tab will be much, much faster than all of the other low cost tabs available in the market. The dual core is the new trend. If you have used a low cost tab before you will immediately feel the difference.

Wammy Desire review

Apps, games, multitasking –  works flawlessly. Touch, flow, effect are pretty smooth thanks to the Jelly Bean OS. There is also an option to watch video in a fixed window that can be arranged anywhere on the screen. You can watch video and can work with other apps simultaneously.

Wammy Desire Benchmark Scores
Quadrant (for some reason the report screen went weird and could not see the numbers clearly) what I could get was = 3570.
AnTuTu = 7560.
NenaMark2 = 59.4 fps.
LinPack = Single = 45 | Multi = AVG 70.

Gaming
I tried all common games which worked well and then tried the Shadowgun and ASPHalt both the games worked, were pretty smooth and loaded faster than as compared with single core tabs. I think this tab can play all the games as on the single core and many other games that required higher processing.

Others
You can connect a supported 3G dongle and enjoy 3G connectivity or use the built in Wi-Fi. The sound is bit low but more than what I found on Wammy Athena. Actually that is a small issue which is already fixed with an app and available on consumer versions.

The display resolution is average – 800×480 pixels and I believe Wickedleak will come with a 1024×600 pixel resolution version of desire. The tab does get mildly heated up, but that can be ignored.

Battery
The battery is of 3000 mAh capacity which gives a usage time of about up to 5 hours (watching movies) with low brightness. But if you are playing high end games the drain will be much faster.  A game like Shadow gun consumers about 5 battery points in just 6 to 8 minutes with 45% brightness.

Wammy Desire review
If you are planning to buy a 7 inch tablet, I would highly recommend this. The price is good enough considering the dual core and Jelly Bean advantage.
