At an event in Delhi along with the Samsung Gear S2 Smartwatch the company also launched Samsung Gear VR that is powered by Oculus. This VR headset is lighter when compared with the Gear VR Innovator Edition.

Samsung Gear VR headset is using foam cushion that provides a comfortable experience for a longer period. As mentioned this VR is 22% lighter. It works with Galaxy S6/S6 edge, S6 Edge+ and Note 5.

The touch-pad makes it easier to navigate specially when playing games, watching movies / 360 degree videos. Gear VR weighs around 310 grams and provides 96 degree field of view. It is using 54 – 70mm lenses (fixed); packed with following sensors – proximity, accelerometer and gyro.

There is a micro USB port to connect with compatible Samsung Galaxy devices.

Samsung Gear VR will be made available exclusively on Flipkart for ₹8,200. Users can also buy this device from retails (offline) stores (Reliance Digital and Croma).
