Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge launched in India

At an event in New Delhi Samsung Mobiles launched the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge premium smartphones in India. Both these handsets are powered by 64 bit octa core processor and running Lollipop out of the box.

There is hardly any difference between the S6 and the S6 Edge. The S6 Edge comes with dual Edge screen and gets power from a 2600 mAh battery. The S6 comes with 2550 mAh battery. Rest of the features are the same. Both these handsets sport a 5.1 inch super AMOLED screen with 2560 x 1440 (Quad HD) resolution. The screen comes with corning gorilla glass 4 protection.

The S6 / S6 Edge is powered by Exynos 7420 64bit octa core processor (combination of 2 x quad core) clocked at 2.1GHz. This 64bit hardware (world’s first 14nm mobile processor) runs the 64 bit supported OS Android Lollipop 5.0 out of the box with 3GB onboard RAM.

Users can choose from 32GB/64GB/128GB internal storage space. There is 16MP rear AF OIS camera with LED flash and a 5MP camera on the front. Front camera supports 120 degree wide selfies and the rear camera is with 1.9 aperture that will capture amazing images in extreme low light conditions. The camera app comes with pro mode feature that gives manual control to user (manual focus, ISO, white balance etc). Rear camera can shoot 4K videos. There is auto real time HDR for both rear as well as for the front camera.

Key features are 4G, 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, Fingerprint scanner with Samsung pay support, IR and heart rate sensor.

The battery comes built it, supports fast charging and wireless charging. The S6 delivers about 4 hours of usage with just 10 minutes of charging.

The S6 Edge comes with dual curved screen – on the left and right. It is not just the design but the curve screens are functional, you can view notifications and also colour code your contacts so just by looking at the colour on the edge screen you will know who is calling. The edge screen can be used to display information from several sources (news etc). When the screen is off you can access the edge screen by sliding your finger and rear the information or swipe to change the information stream.

Samsung Galaxy S6 is available for Rs. 49,900 (32GB), Rs. 55,900 (64GB)and Rs. 61,900 (128GB) and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge for Rs. 58,900(32GB), Rs. 64,900(64GB) and Rs. 70,900(128GB).
