Samsung has launched the Galaxy On7 Pro and the On5 Pro in India. I have already done the review of On5 Pro and here is the Galaxy On7 Pro review. In general the On7 Pro is better than the On5 Pro, but not the best out there.

On7 Pro Unboxing

Inside the box : handset, 3000 mAh removable battery, data cable, user manual, warranty card, standard quality earphone and travel charger 5V/1A. SAR Value  = 0.407 W/Kg head.

Design, Display and OS

The On7 Pro also looks exactly like the On7 handset that was launched last year.  Build quality and finishing is good, design is similar to as seen on most Samsung smartphones. It’s using a plastic body and weight with battery is 171 grams, dimensions are 77.48 x 151.71 x 8.01 (mm).

Power button is on right side, micro USB port / single mic and audio jack is at the bottom, volume rocker is placed on the left side. There are no LED notifications and On7 Pro is packed with 2 sensors – accelerometer and proximity. Light sensor is missing.

Samsung Galaxy On7 Pro dual micro SIM slots

This is a dual SIM handset you can use 2x micro SIM as well as a micro SD card. 4G is supported with VoLTE.

On7 Pro sports a 5.5 inch screen with 1280 x 720 pixels (HD) resolution. It’s a TFT screen with good colour reproduction and viewing angles.

Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 runs out of the box.

Memory, Storage and OTG

There is 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM, on first boot you will get about 11GB free space and 1GB free RAM. OTG is supported. Users can also use micro SD card to store user data.

Performance

When it comes to performance comparison between On7 Pro and On5 Pro, the On7 Pro looks much better. This handset is powered by qualcomm snapdragon 410 quad core processor clocked at 1.2GHz with Adreno 306 GPU. Performance is smooth, handset does not heat up and this hardware does well when it comes to gaming.

Hardware is 64 Bit but handset is running 32 Bit Marshmallow OS.

  • Nenamark 2 – 53.5fps
  • Internal storage Speed – Read (130MB/s), Write (78MB/s)
  • Multi Touch – 2 Point

Gaming

I played Asphalt 8 in high visual quality mode and the game was playable, smooth and no doubt better than the On5 Pro.

There is a 13MP AF camera with flash on the back and a 5MP FF camera on the front. Rear camera can shoot 1920 x 1080 pixels videos.

Camera quality is average – check the sample images and videos at the end of this review.

Others

This smartphone supports 14 Indian regional languages, S-Bike Mode and ultra data saving mode. Sound is loud and clear and in-call sound is also very good. 4G, WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth worked well. I did not face any networks issues.

Battery

There is a  3000 mAh removable battery that does an impressive job – you can expect 5 to 8 hours of non-stop moderate to heavy usage. With mixed normal usage it will last for up to 2 days, medium mixed usage 1 and a half day and heavy usage almost 24 hours.

Galaxy On7 Pro Battery Performance (time / battery % drop / estimated battery temperature).

  • Running Benchmark app – 10 minutes / 2% / 32 degrees
  • Asphalt 8 game play – 9 minutes / 3% / 33 degrees
  • FHD video playback with full brightness (WiFi /4G on) – 47 minutes /10% / 33 degrees.

It took me 3 hour 10 minutes to charge the handset using wall charger from 12% to 100%.

Verdict

The On7 Pro is better than the On5 Pro, but not the best. There are better options available in the market, but again if you want to buy handset from Samsung, better go for the one with super AMOLED screen.

Rating 3 out of 5.

Samsung Galaxy On7 Pro price in India Rs. 11,190.
