Xiaomi at an event in China has unveiled the Redmi 5 and the Redmi 5 Plus smartphones. Xiaomi Redmi 5 is using SD 450 octa core processor and price in China starts from RMB 799 (approx Rs. 7,700) and the Redmi 5 Plus is SD 625 powered and its price starts from RMB 999 (approx Rs. 9,700).

This is a dual SIM handset running MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat 7.1.2. Redmi 5 features a 5.7 inch screen and yes it’s with a 18:9 aspect ratio. There is 2.5D curved glass and resolution is 1440 x 720 pixels.

Inside the hood it is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa core processor with Adreno 506 GPU. Now this handset the Redmi 5 comes with 2GB/16GB or 3GB/ 32GB RAM / ROM options, micro SD of up to 128GB is supported.

Weight is 157 grams and on the rear there is a single camera of 12MP resolution and front camera is a 5MP shooter. Other common features are 4G VoLTE, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, IR blaster and finger print sensor.

A 3300 mAh battery powers the Xiaomi Redmi 5. Now this handset price in China is RMB 799 approx Rs. 7,700 with 2GB/16GB version and the 3GB/32GB version will cost RMB 899 approx Rs. 8,700.

This dual SIM handset is also MIUI 9 powered and features a 5.99 inch 2.5D curved screen with full HD+ resolution (2160 x 1080 pixels) – 18:9 aspect ratio. Inside the hood it is using Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa core processor with Adreno 506 GPU.

There is 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB RAM / ROM options, plus micro SD card support of up to 128GB. Redmi 5 Plus weight is 179 grams and there is a 12MP single camera on the back, plus a 5MP camera on the front.

Other features are 4G, VoLTE, Finger Print sensor, IR blaster, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth. Now this handset houses a 4000 mAh battery. Redmi 5 Plus price in China is RMB 999 approx Rs. 9,700 with 3GB/32GB RAM/ROM and the 4GB/64GB variant will cost RMB 1299 approx Rs. 12,700.
