Realme 1 review, Solar Red + Diamond Black – really an excellent buy!

Here is the Realme 1 review. Also check the video review wherein I have done the Realme 1 unboxing, talked about features and shown gaming performance, camera quality with samples. Also talked about battery life.

Realme 1 price in India is Rs. 8,990 for 3GB/32GB version and Rs. 13,990 for 6GB/128GB variant. There are two color options the Solar Red and Diamond black, I have shown both the color in this video. I bought this handset (did not get review unit), bought both Red and Black.

I thought the black would look good but the solar red I feel is much better. Build and finishing is excellent, looks premium, glass on the back with 2.5D curve, as mentioned solar red color looks awesome – check video.

What makes Realme 1 a great buy is

1. The price, 6 inch 2.5D curved screen, 2160 x 1080 pixels resolution
2. Triple slots you can use 2x nano SIM + micro SD card/  3GB RAM, 32GB ROM
3. Dual VoLTE support, yes Realme 1 supports dual VoLTE
4. Dual band Wi-Fi, yes it supports 2.4GHz and 5GHz
5. MediaTek Helio P60 AI processor octa core processor that also has 2 extra cores for AI, 12nm powerful (Antutu score 1,30,000), battery efficient and handset hardly heats up.
6. Color OS 5.0 based on Android Oreo 8.1, this handset will get Android P update
7. 13MP rear camera and 8MP front camera, camera is really good, however conditions apply check the video to know. But for the price camera quality is awesome.
8. There is no finger print sensor, just use face unlock with auto screen on feature. Face unlock is instant and when you pick the handset the screen switches on, face unlock works it is instant – great security without doing anything. Also all important sensor including Gyro and Magnetic.
9. 3410 mAh battery is decent enough. Takes around 2h 30m for a full charge and you will get 1 day to 1 and a half day of battery life – depending on your usage.

Now what is missing / issues

1. There is no LED notification
2. Bokeh mode at times does not look good, edge detection is not that great.

Verdict

Looks like a excellent buy for under Rs. 10,000. The 3GB/32GB is more than enough, I think the price is really good, the 6GB version is kind of pricey, moreover you get a separate micro SD card slot. There are many reviewers complaining about RAM management on the 3GB version, there is no such issues. The hardware is optimized, some apps will restart if you keep running those in background, specially games. I guess that can be fixed via OS update. But this is done to improve the performance of the handset, give user a fluid experience on 3GB. For many users this will hardly matter, as not all are gaming users.
