Qualcomm today unveiled their next generation chipset the Snapdragon 835 – tagged get small, go big. This chipset is more powerful, efficient and using 10nm FinFET process. Qualcomm has collaboration with Samsung who will be manufacturing the SD 835.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 will soon take over Snapdragon 820 and the 821 chipsets. SD 835 chips at 10nm have smaller footprints when compared with 14nm and this offers manufacturers more space within the device – the manufacturers can use that extra space to build slimmer smartphones or pack it with larger batteries.

Moreover compared with 14nm these 10nm SD 835 will be more power efficient and powerful. Snapdragon 835 will allow up to 30% increase in area efficiency, 27% improvement in performance or 40% lower power consumption.

Qualcomm has yet to reveal more details about the SD 835. This new chipset is expected to hit the markets in early 2017. Quick Charge 4 (QC4) will be supported – with this technology a 5 minutes charge will give up to 5 hours of battery life.
