What Makes POVA 8 5G Different

Most phones at this price look exactly the same. A glossy back, a camera bump that got a little bigger, and a spec sheet that reads like a template. POVA 8 5G was built to reject all of that.

The story starts at the back panel. POVA calls it the ALIVE Matrix Display, and it is not a gimmick. This is an interactive rear lighting system that responds in real time to your music, notifications, and interactions. Dynamic orange-amber light patterns pulse and animate across a geometric matrix. It does not just sit there. It moves.

The physical design follows the same logic. Sharp geometric detailing, metallic-inspired industrial textures, and a 3.3mm visual profile that makes everything else on a table look dated. This is cyberpunk made physical, not a theme you download from a wallpaper pack.

The Triple-Chipset Setup

Signal strength matters. Especially if you commute in Mumbai or live anywhere that is not the ground floor of a building with perfect reception. POVA 8 5G is positioned as a triple-chipset smartphone, combining the D7100 processor with dedicated G1 and SE1 signal chipsets. The pitch is stronger, more stable connectivity across 20 5G bands. Whether that holds up in real-world use is something we will test, but the hardware architecture is genuinely different from most mid-range competition.

The UPS 3.0 support promises up to 4x faster payments too, which is relevant given how much of daily life in India runs through UPI.

Battery and Performance

8000mAh. No asterisk. No fine print about reduced capacity in practice.

POVA claims standby time of 1198 hours, 17.8 hours of continuous Wi-Fi browsing, and around 11 hours of gaming. The 45W fast charger ships in the box, which is the right call. Nothing worse than buying a big-battery phone and being handed a 10W brick.

Under-load performance is handled by a 14,689mm2 liquid cooling area, which should keep the D7100 from throttling during extended gaming sessions. The processor sits on a 6nm process node, which balances performance and thermal management reasonably well at this price point.

Camera

The 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 sensor does the heavy lifting. Sony’s LYTIA series sensors have earned a reputation for solid low-light performance, and having one at the Rs. 29,999 price point is worth noting. The camera app covers the usual bases: portrait, super night, AIGC portrait, pro mode, panorama, sky replacement, time-lapse, and slow motion. Video tops out at 2K @ 30fps on both front and rear.

The 13MP selfie camera also records 2K video, which is a spec you do not often see called out on the front shooter.

ALIVE Matrix Display and Design

The cyberpunk aesthetic is not surface-level here. POVA 8 5G measures 3.3mm in visual profile, which is one of the slimmest-looking form factors in this segment. The ALIVE Matrix system on the back is the centrepiece, with dynamic light patterns that sync to music playback and respond to incoming notifications.

The three colour options, 16-Bit White, Plasma Orange, and Terminal Green, all carry the same geometric design language. This is a phone designed to be seen, not hidden in a case.

Software and Extras

POVA 8 5G ships with HiOS 16 on top of Android 16, which puts it ahead of most competitors at launch on OS version alone. Users also get 3 months of free Google AI Plus benefits worth $30 (approximately Rs. 2,500), which covers access to Gemini Advanced and Google One storage.

Should You Buy the POVA 8 5G?

At Rs. 29,999 for the base variant, POVA 8 5G is making a case on multiple fronts. The 8000mAh battery is class-leading. The triple-chipset signal setup is genuinely differentiated. The Sony LYTIA 600 sensor is a solid primary shooter. And no phone in this price range looks remotely like this one.

The competition at this price includes strong options from iQOO, Realme, and Infinix. POVA 8 5G is not going to win on every benchmark. But if you want a phone that actually has a point of view, this one does.
