The PlayStation Vita a.k.a. PSVita was first launched in Japan last year and will soon be made available in India hopefully by the end of this month. The Vita gaming console is built to last and is as good as its predecessor the PSP (PlayStation portable).

PlayStation Vita Features / Specifications

The PSVita sports an ARM Quadcore (4 Core) Cortex A9 processor coupled with 4 core GPU. This portable console comes with 512 MB RAM and 128 MB VRAM with a weight of 280 grams. The weight is the same when compared with the PSP however Vita is a bit larger in size.

The OLED super responsive touchscreen is of size 5 inches and comes with a touch panel that is placed at the back of the device. The PSVita has got a brand new user interface (UI) which is completely different and not like the one that comes on the PS3.  The UI looks similar to what you see on the android phones, games as icons and you can scroll between open programs.

As far as connectivity is concerned the console comes with Wi-Fi only version and 3G enabled version. This console also supports Bluetooth 2.1. The battery life is just average, you can play continuously for almost 5 hours.

PlayStation Vita (PSVita) handheld gaming console price in India

Specifications may be impressive but the price is not. You will need to spend Rs. 19,900 for the Wi-Fi only version and additional Rs. 5,000 if you want a 3G enabled PSVita (Rs. 24,900). In addition you will also need to invest in the Sony proprietary memory cards that will cost anywhere from Rs. 1,600 to Rs. 4,000 depending on the storage capacity. You will need to buy the Sony Proprietary memory cards because some games will not work without them.

You can purchase games from the PlayStation store but you need to download them on to your PS3 instead. As of now you cannot directly download the game on the PSVita as the PS Store does not recognise the PSVita as a valid device. But buy the time this console is available in India, hopefully the stores would have added the device making it possible to download directly on the portable PSVita via Wi-Fi or 3G.
