Philips has launched an extra ordinary smartphone the Philips W6618 in China. The W6618 may seem like any other 1.3GHz quad core (MediaTek) powered handset except when you check the battery, it’s massive with a 5300 mAh capacity .

Forget about smartphones the Philips W6618 will put many tablets to shame. The handset is launched in China for a price tag of 1699 Yuan. Considering the battery size the handset will definitely be bulky, it’s 11.4 mm thick.

The dual SIM W6618 sports a 5 inch screen with 960 x 540 pixels resolution. Handset runs on Android 4.2 with 1GB RAM and 4GB internal storage. There is 8MP rear camera and a front camera too. The chipset used is MediaTek 1.3GHz quad core processor with Mali 400 GPU.

Other common features are 3G, Bluetooth, GPS and WiFi. And now back to the key feature – the massive battery. Well the 5300 mAh battery is non-removable. It definitely will keep the handset going on for a much longer time. Estimated talk-time is over 30 hours and standby time well, over two months.

Not sure if and when this handset will be available in India. But if it does get launched in India with a decent price, it could just do well.
