Oukitel K4000 is a MediaTek quad core powered smartphone with 4G LTE support. The main highlight however is the build quality, K4000 is made to last. It is using a Magnesium Alloy frame, CNC crafted and the handset also houses a 4000 mAh battery.

Unboxing
Inside the box you will find the K4000 handset, user guide, warranty card, plastic case, 4000 mAh removable battery, data cable, travel charger (5V ~ 1A) and good quality earphone.

Design
K4000 as mentioned is a tough handset, very good build quality and finishing. Weight with battery is 205 grams and dimensions are 70.75 x 143.88 x 10.76 (mm). The sides are silver colour with shiny silver borders.

This handset is heavy but for its size it is comfortable to hold. Power button and volume rocker is on the right side, micro USB port is at the bottom and audio jack is on the top. This is a dual SIM handset – 2 x micro SIM slot + a micro SD card slot.

There is no LED notification and K4000 is packed with 3 sensors – light, proximity and accelerometer.

Display
Oukitel K4000 sports a 5 inch screen with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution. The screen has also been made tough. It is using tempered glass with 3 anti scratch 9H later protection. I did a hammer test with the K4000 – do check the video review.

Colour reproduction, viewing angles and touch response are very good.

Memory, Storage and OS
There is 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and micro SD support. On the first boot you will get 10GB free internal storage space and 1.6GB free RAM. OTG is supported and apps are getting installed on the external storage. It is running 32 bit Android Lollipop 5.1 out of the box.

Performance
This handset is powered by MediaTek MT6735 64 bit quad core processor clocked at 1GHz coupled with Mali T720 GPU. Overall performance was smooth and lags free.

Gaming
I played Asphalt 8, game was playable in high visual quality mode but not very smooth, it did well in medium quality mode. The game got installed on the external storage.

Camera
There is 13MP primary camera with flash and 5MP secondary camera. Rear camera can shoot 720p videos. Handset however can play FHD videos. Camera quality is average, check the sample images and video listed at the end of this review.

Others
Sound is loud and clear. In-call sound is also good, no issues with networks. This handset supports 4G however 2300 band is not supported. 3G, WiFi, Hotknot, Bluetooth and GPS worked well.

The handset is tough and screen is scratch resistant to a larger extent.

Battery
The Oukitel K4000 comes with 4000 mAh removable battery. It does a decent job you can expect 4 to 10 hours of continuous backup (moderate to heavy depending on your usage). Battery temp reading was incorrect, always at 25 degrees, but the handset was warm not very hot when using heavy apps.

Battery Performance

  • Ran Benchmark for 13 minutes battery % dropped by 2 and battery temp was 25 degrees.
  • Played Asphalt 8 for 20 minutes battery dropped by 10% and temp was 25 degrees.
  • Watched FHD video with full brightness (WiFi on) for 36 minutes battery dropped by 12% and temp was 25 degrees.
  • Handset charging (wall charge) 4 hours 52 minutes from 1% to 100%.

Verdict
The Oukitel K4000 is a good handset, tough build quality and lag free performance. Camera quality is average and battery backup is pretty good. This handset as of now is available for $109.99.
