Nokia 515 with 3G and Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection coming soon

Nokia Mobiles will soon roll out the Nokia 515 handset. The 515 may look like any other basic phone with an alphanumeric keypad; however it supports 3G and also comes with Gorilla Glass 2 protection.

Nokia 515 is 11mm thick and light weight – just over 100 grams (101 grams). The display screen is 2.4 inches supporting 320×240 pixels resolution with 256K colors and as mentioned it’s with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection.

The handset runs on the Series 40 OS with 256MB internal and 64MB RAM. Micro SD card of up to 32GB is supported. The 515 will be available in single SIM as well as dual SIM version. There is no front camera and the rear camera is of a 5MP resolution with LED support.

Other features are 3G (7.2Mbps), 2G GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth 3.0 (only on single SIM version) and micro USB 2.0. There is no built in Wi-Fi and GPS. The battery is of 1200 mAh capacity and Nokia claims a talk time of up to 5 hours on 3G and 10 hours on 2G networks.

The Nokia 515 is priced at $149, no word as to when it will reach the Indian markets. I doubt if this handset would attract users, especially for the gorilla glass 2 protections. Nokia handsets are by default quite sturdy and paying an extra premium, for the extra protection, on a basic phone, makes no sense.
