Micromax launched a couple of devices that runs on the KitKat OS. Micromax A105 also called the Canvas Entice is another such handset that houses a Broadcom quad core chipset and sports a 5 inch screen. The A105 is priced at approx Rs. 7,500.

Inside the Box: A105 handset, travel charger, data cable, warranty card, earphone, user guide, 1900 mAh battery and a free screen guard.

Design and Display
The Micromax A105 has got the typical Micromax look with the curvy edges. The handset is bulky in fact when you compare this with the Micromax Unite 2 you will definitely like the Unite 2. Canvas Entice weight with battery is 179 grams. Dimensions are 76.70 x 147.05 x 9.55mm.

The A105 does look attractive because of the metallic finish back panel, well that’s the only thing that will entice you. There are dual mics for noise cancellation. Power button is on the left, volume rockers on the right and 3.5mm audio jack and micro USB port on the top.

This is a dual SIM handset SIM 1 (normal SIM) supports 3G and SIM 2 (Normal SIM) supports 2G. Dual SIM smart on option is supported wherein you can receive calls from both SIMs even when one of it is in use. Build quality is good but as already mentioned the handset is too bulky.

Micromax Canvas Entice A105 review and unboxing

The screen is 5 inches supporting WVGA resolution (800 x 480 pixels). Touch is smooth and responsive. Viewing angles are not that great and colour reproduction is good. There are accelerometer, light and proximity sensors.

Memory, storage and OS
The handset runs KitKat Android 4.4.2 out of the box with 512MB RAM and 4GB storage. Of the 512MB RAM, 187MB is available on the first boot and of the 4GB storage 1.36GB is allocated as phone storage and 1.11 GB is the space for apps.

This is quad core handset using the Broadcom Chipset (BCM23550) clocked at 1.2GHz and coupled with VideoCore IV HW GPU. Performance is okay, but at times you can feel it lagging.

Benchmark Scores

App Result
Quadrant 3115
Antutu 11960
Vellamo Browser (851) Metal (598)
Nenamark 2 44.5fps
Multi Touch 4 point

Gaming
Apps cannot be moved and installed on the external storage. You are left with internal storage space of 1.3GB. I could install the Asphalt 8 on the internal storage. The game is playable but not very smooth; you might want to reduce the visual quality to the lowest. I tried playing in medium and then in low visual mode.

5MP Camera and Entertainment
There is VGA front camera and 5MP rear AF camera with LED flash. The interface is not that simple and there are two setting options. Rear camera can shoot 5MP still images in 4:3 aspect ratio. By default it can record in 480p resolution, change the preview size and you will be able to shoot in 720p resolution.

The picture quality is good. Focus is very sharp, a bit slow, but image quality spoils the fun. Focusing is great but the picture is not that sharp. Check the sample images and videos at the end of this Micromax Canvas Entice A105 review.

The Canvas Entice A105 can play full HD videos in both H/W and S/W mode using MX player.

Others
Sound is very loud and clear. No issues with 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth. GPS lock is fast well within 10 seconds.

Battery
There is a 1900 mAh removable battery. I used the handset for 42 minutes the battery dropped by 22% and I also played a 720p video in full brightness and Wi-Fi on for about 1 hours 6 minutes. Battery dropped by 18%.

With heavy usage like playing asphalt 8 kind of games the battery will last for about 3 hours and you can watch videos in loudspeaker mode for almost 6 hours.

Verdict
The Micromax Canvas Entice is not going to entice you, in fact you will like the Unite 2 even more. The Micromax Unite 2 A106 is still a better option not only in terms of overall performance but also the looks / design.
