MediaTek has announced the world’s first Tri-Cluster CPU with 10 cores it’s called the MediaTek Helio X20. This Deca Core (10 core) chipset is all set to revolutionize the mobile industry. The CPU architecture is power efficient and at the same time high (extreme) performing.

The MediaTek Helio X10 was launched in March 2015 that came with 8 core and the MediaTek Helio X20 with 10 cores will be officially launched in December 2015. So the next generation smartphones with 10 core will most likely hit the stores in 2016.

The Helio X10 is 28nm using 8x cortex A53 CPU with speed of up to 2GHz. The Helio X20 is 20nm using Tri Cluster 10 core CPU. The X10 supports up to 21 MP camera resolution and X20 supports up to 32MP resolution. Both these chipsets can play / record 4K videos however X20 comes with 30% power improvements.

The X10 is coupled with G6200 GPU whereas the X20 will be using Mali GPU (Unspecified). Again both these chipset support 4G LTE FDD/TDD and WQXGA – 2650 x 1600 display.

The 3 clusters on X20 are really power efficient and efficiently handles workload. When the smartphone is used for normal task like reading SMS’s, running simple apps like calculator only one cluster will be active, the other two will power down there by extending the battery life.
