LYF Water F1S is another handset powered by qualcomm snapdragon 652 octa core processor. This handset like the other LYF handsets also supports 4G with VoLTE. Here is the review of Water F1S, it is priced at Rs. 9,599.

Unboxing : Inside the box – handset, SIM tray ejector pin, user manual, warranty card, standard quality earphone, plastic case for protection, data cable USB Type C and travel charger 5V/2A. SAR value as mentioned on the box 0.421 W/Kg@1g head and 0.581 W/kg@1g body.

Design, Display and OS

The LYF Water F1S is available in 3 different color options, I got the silver color for the review. Handset is slim, light weight at about 145 grams. Dimensions are 73.1 x 148  x 7.7 (mm). It’s using a metal body, build quality and finishing is very good.

This is a dual SIM handset (hybrid slot) you can use 2x nano SIM or 1x nano + 1x micro SD card. 4G with VoLTE is supported. There is LED notification and following sensors – accelerometer, light, proximity, magnetic, hall and gyro sensors.

LYF Water F1S sports a 5.2 inch screen with FHD (1080p) resolution. Screen comes with Concore glass 3 protection and it’s also using a 2.5D curved glass. Color reproduction, viewing angles and touch response are good.

There are on-screen navigation buttons, dedicated navigational buttons are missing.

This handset sails on Android Marshmallow version 6.0.1.

Memory and Storage

LYF Water F1S is packed with 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM. On first boot you will get around 22GB free internal storage space and 1.5GB free RAM.

Performance and Benchmark

The Water F1S is using well known Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8976 octa core processor clocked at 1.8GHz with Adreno 510 GPU. Performance is smooth, lag free, though the handset did get heated up with heavy usage but battery temp was under control – max battery temperature I encountered was 42 degrees.

Benchmark

Quadrant : 42903
AnTuTu : 81573 / 19244  2nd time 81510 / 19421
Nenamark 2 : 60.5fps
Disk Speed : 172 MB/s read / 80 MB/s write
Multi Touch : 10 point

Gaming

LYF Water F1S can play a lot of high end games with ease in high visual quality mode. I tried Asphalt 8 in high mode and it worked pretty smooth.

Camera

F1S comes with a 16MP camera on the back with dual tone LED support and front camera is a 5MP shooter with front LED flash support for better selfies. It can record and play 4K videos. Camera quality is average though video 4K recording is very good.

Camera Rating 3.5 out of 5

Others

Reliance Jio worked no issues with network, call quality and loudspeaker sound. Sound output was loud and clear. WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth worked great. Finger print sensor is missing.

Battery

The built in 3000 mAh battery does a very good job. You can expect 5 to 7 hours of non-stop moderate to heavy usage on a single charge. With mixed usage I got up to 2 days of battery life.

LYF Water F1S Battery Performance (time / battery % drop / estimated battery temperature)

  • Running Benchmark app – 9 minutes / 2% / 40 degrees
  • Asphalt 8 game play – 16 minutes / 5% / 42 degrees
  • 4K video playback with full brightness (WiFi /4G on) – 16 minutes / 5% / 40 degrees.

It took me 1 hours 27 minutes to charge the handset from 26% to 100% using wall charger. It will take about 2 hours for 0% to 100% charging.

Verdict

The Reliance LYF Water F1S is a good handset with a good price tag, unfortunately the only thing missing is the finger print sensor. Also camera quality is average, though not that bad. It is a good option, you can consider.
