The Pro 30+ closely resembles the Pro 30 handset. It is slim and light weight. The rear is matte finish, soft to touch that feels like rubber. The body has got curved edges. The sides are greyish black color with metallic finish.

Handset is very light weight – 114 grams with battery. Dimensions are 67.75 x 138.07 x 7.90mm. Power button and volume rockers are on the right, micro USB at the bottom and 3.5mm audio jack on the top. There are dual Mics for noise cancellation.

The Lava Iris Pro 30+ runs on Android 4.2 OS I am not sure yet if the handset will get the KitKat update.

Performance and Benchmark
The handset is using the MediaTek 1.5GHz MT6589 quad core chipset with PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU. The chipset is outdated as for today; manufacturers have shifted to 1.3GHz quad core and octa cores. The performance is good and lag free.

Benchmark scores

App Result
Quadrant 4795
Antutu 16955
Vellamo Browser (1898) Metal (788) Multicore (1255)
Nenamark 2 52.6 fps
Multi Touch 5 point

Gaming and Entertainment
I installed the Asphalt 8 On the external storage. In high graphics mode the game was lagging but in low graphics mode it played well. Do check the video review for the gaming action.

The Pro 30+ can play FHD videos.

Camera
There is 13MP rear AF camera with BSI sensor and dual LED flash support. The front camera is of 3MP resolution. But in camera setting you can shoot images in 18MP resolution (Though not much of a difference in the quality). The still camera quality and video quality in 1080p are good.

Others
Gesture controls are supported. No issue with 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth. GPS lock took some time. Sound is loud and clear. It is a dual SIM you need a normal SIM and a micro SIM.

Battery
The battery comes built in – it is 2000 mAh capacity. And here is how it performed.

Task Time Battery drop (%) (max temp)
Running Benchmark apps 36 minutes 8% (34)
FHD video playback (loop) with Wi-Fi on + full brightness 24 minutes 7% (34)
Asphalt 3 GamePlay 18 minutes 6% (38)

The heat buildup is not much and battery backup looks very good. You can expect 5 to 7 hours of continuous usage.

Verdict
The key highlight about the Iris Pro 30+ is its slim design, light weight and very good battery backup. Camera quality is good. The screen is 4.7 inches with good color reproduction. When it comes to gaming it may not be that powerful, but playable in low resolution mode.

Lava Iris Pro 30+ hands on

The flip cover is another attraction. The handset is priced at Rs. 11,399 with 16GB storage. A good option for this price but a further price reduction would have made it even better.

Lava Iris Pro 30+ available for Rs. 11,399 with 16GB free micro SD card.
