Indus OS review – supports 12 Indian Regional Languages

Indus OS comes preloaded on some selected devices like Karbonn, Micromax, Swipe, Intex and Celkon. It is world’s first regional operating system, covering 12 Indian regional languages. This OS not only offers android experience in your native language but also comes with lot of exciting features.

Indus OS Features

The UI is simple and intuitive. You can choose from 12 regional language options and can switch to your preferred language or English with a touch of a button, i.e. if you choose Hindi, all the menu’s will convert to Hindi.

The next best thing is the Indus messenger app that can be used to type for example in English, Hindi and Hinglish. Type in Hinglish and swipe from right to left to convert into Hindi and if you swipe from left to right the text will be translated into Hindi. For translation you need net connection, the translations from English to Hindi are quite  accurate and impressive.

The Indus OS also gives you option to send free messages via net to other users using Indus Messenger app. Text to speech is also supported however for now only 8 languages are supported.  You can for example let the system read the Hindi text for you or you can ask to convert Hindi to English and read the text.

There is auto correction, predictive text, matra prediction and voice commands. This OS also comes with integrated balance and usage analysis built into the dialer.

For now there are some handsets available in the markets that are running Indus OS out of the box.
