CPU + GPU – The 4.5q comes with 1GHz Cortex A9 dual core processor (MT6577) with PowerVR SGX 531 GPU. It’s the same hardware that powers the iBall 4.5h, Micromax A110, Lava Iris 501 and many other handsets.

OS, Memory and storage – This handset runs on the Android Jelly Bean OS which works pretty smooth even on a 512MB RAM. Of the 512MB RAM you get around 200 MB free. There is built in 4GB of internal storage of which 1.3GB (free) is available for apps and another 1GB as internal storage. Micro SD slot can further add up to 32GB card.

Connectivity – There is 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS with A-GPS support. USB / Bluetooth tethering and Wi-Fi Hotspot are supported. No issues with GPS lock.

Performance – The CPU/GPU is well known, needs no introduction. The benchmark scores are as follows:-

  • Quadrant Benchmark: 2746.
  • Antutu Benchmark: 6471.
  • Nenamark 2:  24.0 fps.
  • Linpack : Single 38, Multi 58.
  • Multi Touch: 5 point.

This handset can easily play many HD games as seen on other MT6577 handsets.

Camera – There is an 8MP rear camera with LED which can shoot videos in 720p resolution. You can check out the sample images at the end of the article. The interface is the same as seen on other handsets, however there is a new option called effects that works in video mode. Check the review video to find out more. Camera /video quality is good.

Battery – The battery is of a good 2050 mAh capacity. It should easily last for a day of moderate usage.

Others – The in-call speaker and loudspeaker output is clear and loud. There are 3 sensors namely the proximity, light and G-sensor.

Verdict – It’s a good dual core, dual SIM handset, powerful with premium look and good features however the price seems a bit high for the Jelly bean OS running on a 512MB RAM. A price of under Rs. 10K could have made it a good buy especially when Karbonn S1 quad core is priced at 10,990.
