Retro Controls and a Pocket-Friendly Design
A directional pad, action buttons and an ALPS volume wheel give the AP30 a familiar handheld-console feel. The 2.0-inch IPS screen has a 296 × 240 resolution, while the whale artwork adds character to the back. It runs HidizsOS rather than a phone-style interface.
Hidizs also offers a wearable approach through a neck strap, bag clip and magnetic phone-case attachment. The small screen and tactile controls make this a different proposition from simply carrying another large touchscreen device.
Hi-Res Audio, Dual Outputs and USB DAC
Inside are an RKNANOD processor, Cirrus Logic CS43198 DAC and RT6863 amplifier. Supported decoding reaches native DSD256 and PCM 24-bit/192kHz, with FLAC, ALAC, WAV and MP3 among the supported formats.
The 3.5mm single-ended output is rated at 61mW per channel into 32 ohms. The 4.4mm balanced output raises that to 137mW per channel at the same load. These are specified output figures, not listening-test results.
USB DAC mode lets the player handle audio from another device over USB-C, while Bluetooth 5.3 adds wireless playback. EQ presets and digital filters provide sound-adjustment options.
Battery Life and a Related Music Player
The 1,200mAh battery is rated for 10–12 hours through the single-ended output or 8–10 hours through the balanced output. Claimed charging time is one hour; actual playback time depends on use.
