There is still time for the LG Nexus 4 to arrive in Indian, probably in Jan 2013, but you can have a look at the Unboxing and full review of the Nexus 4, right now, just read on.

My brother who is in the U.K. recently bought the Google LG Nexus 4 and based on the inputs, brief Unboxing video and screen shots here is my Nexus 4 review.  He got the handset from Google site for – 279 GBP for 16GB and 9.99 for shipping charges. Local stores in UK are selling it for over 400 GBP even on Amazon UK it’s listed at 589 GBP.

Box Pack
The box does seem attractive; you can have a look at the Unboxing video. Inside the box you will find the handset, Power adapter, USB to Micro USB cable, Micro SIM eject tool and User guide. There are no headphones included in the box pack.

Design
On the top side there is the 3.5mm jack and on the bottom side you will find the micro USB port and the mic. On the left side there is volume rockers, micro SIM slot and on the right there is the power / lock button. The micro-USB port also works as an HDMI out-port.

What’s in the Nexus 4?
The Nexus 4 comes with micro SIM slot; you need to use the SIM which is smaller than the traditional SIM’s that we are using. The battery is built in and the back cover is kind of sealed (but it is not that difficult to remove it). And there is no need to as the handset comes with built in memory and no micro SD slot, plus the micro SIM slot is provided on the left side.

The handset is powered by quad core ARMv7 processor (QCT APQ8064 MAKO hardware) (Qualcomm Snapdragon) clocked at 1.5 GHz coupled with Qualcomm Adreno 320 GPU. The screen is 4.7 inches with (1280×768) 1184×768 pixels resolution. The display is IPS with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection.

  • Of the 2GB RAM 448 MB is used and you get around 1.4 GB free.
  • This handset is with 16GB internal storage of which 13 GB is available for apps.

The handset runs on Jelly Bean OS and my brother just updated it to the latest Android 4.2.1.

Performance
Being a quad core running JB OS, with 2GB RAM and plenty of storage for apps the performance definitely has to be outstanding and it does live to the exceptions.  Check the benchmark scores.

Quadrant Benchmark – 4740.
Antutu Benchmark – 16800.
NenaMark2  – 59.3.
Linpack – Single 52 – Multiple 126.
Multi Touch -10 point.

Gaming
There is no doubt that with this hardware you will be able to play almost all the games listed on Google Play.

8MP Camera
The 8MP camera with auto focus does a pretty decent job. Check out the sample images listed below. 1080p video recording is also possible (do check sample raw video at the end of the article). There is also a 1.3MP camera in the front which can be used for video chats.

Others
Handset supports 3G (DC-HSDPA, 42 Mbps; HSDPA, 21 Mbps), 2G, Bluetooth 4.0, Wifi, NFC, 3.5mm jack, GPS with A-GPS/GLONASS and micro USB. I think the FM radio is missing.

Battery
The non-removable battery is of 2100 mAh capacity, that gives talktime of about 15 hours and standby time of up to 390 hours.

Google LG Nexus 4 review
Amazing phone with the latest hardware and software. In India I believe the price will be over 29K. We will have to see if the price is lower than the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Overall a really good, powerful phone to own, and probably will not be that easy buying one, if the price is good there could be a huge demand.
