Gionee today announced that they have partnered with world’s leading manufacturers Dixon and Foxconn and will soon begin production in India. Within the next 3 years Gionee will be investing about 50 million US$.
Foxconn will basically be handling the smartphone manufacturing only whereas Dixon will be handling both smartphones and feature phones manufacturing. The manufacturing facilities will be based in Andhra Pradesh and Delhi NCR.
Gionee along with Foxconn and Dixon will start the production in October and the manufacturing plants will have a capacity to make more than 1.2 million handsets per month. Gionee will also be concentrating on R&D specially the software area i.e. Amigo UI for better consumer experience.
Many companies have started manufacturing in India, and it has helped them to reduced the price a bit.
