Gionee Elife S5.5 the slimmest smartphone launched

Gionee today launched the Gionee Elife S5.5 in China, they call it the world’s slimmest smartphone. From the name you might have already guessed the thickness, in case you did not get it, the handset is 5.5mm thick.

Sounds cool, probably will look cool too. No doubt it is the slimmest innovation from Gionee, for now. The Elife S5.5 sports the thinnest AMOLED Plus screen with corning gorilla glass protection.  The screen size is 5 inches (resolution unknown probably 1080p).

This single SIM handset is powered by 1.7GHz octa core processor. It runs on Amigo OS 2.0 (customized) which is based on Android 4.2 with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. Phone dimensions are 145.1 x 70.2 x 5.55mm. The Gionee Elife S5.5 comes with 13MP rear camera and a front camera of 5MP. Both front and rear cameras are auto focus.

Key features are 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi, FM radio, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. OTG is supported; however it seems that the micro SD card slot is missing. There is a non-removable battery of 2300 mAh capacity.

The Gionee Elife S5.5 will be available in Purple, White, Black, Pink and Blue color options. The Elife S5.5 4G version will be made available in June 2014. The handset should hit the Indian stores in Q2 2014 and will be showcased at MWC 2014 in Barcelona.
