Gionee launched the A1 handset in India. This is a selfie handset that comes with a good camera on the front (16MP – f/2.0 aperture). Gionee A1 houses MediaTek Helio P10 processor and loaded with 4GB RAM, its price in India is Rs. 19,999.

Talking about the specifications the Gionee A1 is a dual SIM handset using hybrid slot packed inside a Aircraft grade metal body. As mentioned it is using MediaTek P10 Helio octa core processor clocked at 2GHz with Mali T860 GPU. Android Nougat with Amigo UI runs the show.

Gionee A1 sports a 5.5 inch screen with a 2.5D curved glass supporting 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution.  There is 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM and 128GB external micro SD card support. Primary camera can shoot in 13MP resolution. This camera comes with a f/2.0 aperture using SONY IMX258 sensor and the front 16MP camera is with a f/2.0 aperture.

Other features are 4G LTE, VoLTE support, 3G, 2G, GPS, WiFi (dual band), Bluetooth and finger print sensor. A 4010 mAh battery powers up the Gionee A1 smartphone. Fast charging is supported.

I have already done review of quite a few handsets with Helio P10 processors. So here is an advanced Gionee A1 review – a brief one based on my experience with other handsets with P10 chipset.

Gionee A1 review (brief – based on P10 experience)

All of the MediaTek P10 handsets that I reviewed performed good but when it came to gaming they under-performed in high quality modes. The P10 hardware in most cases will lag when playing games in high visual quality mode and this happens when using a 1080p resolution display. I am also not sure if Nougat will fix this issue.

I am not sure if and when I will get the Gionee A1 for review, but do leave a comment when you see other Gionee A1 review videos complaining about gaming performance hopefully (not sure on Nougat).

Gionee A1 will be available in 3 colour options from 31st March (pre-order), price is Rs. 19,999.
