Ever since the Ringing Bells Company unveiled the Freedom 251 smartphone that they claimed will be made available for just ₹251, the bells have been ringing (for the company). The latest news is that an FIR has been registered against the company for cheating (section 420).

As per the report by Hindustatimes, Kirit Somaiya BJP leader has filed a complaint in Noida under section 420 of IPC (cheating) against Mohit Goel  (Director – Ringing Bells) and Ashok Chaddha (President – Ringing Bells). The case is open for investigation, Ringing Bells company will need to submit the required documents and will also need to show the plants where they would be manufacturing the units that they promised.

On the other hand Mohit Goel said they will cooperate with the agencies and did mention that they will deliver the world’s affordable Freedom 251 smartphone and other range of smartphones.

There were very few customers who were able to pre-book the Freedom 251 by making the payment of ₹251 + shipping. The company as for now has refunded the amount to all the customers who made the payments. As per their new strategy they will be offering cash on delivery when the product is ready.
