EC (Election Commission of India) has partnered with Facebook for Voter Registration Campaign. Via this campaign EC and Facebook will remind 18 years old / first time voters to register so they can vote.

Almost everyone has a Facebook account and this partnership will help encourage the new voters to register and vote – since very vote counts. The use of latest technology makes it easier to communicate and connect with users.

Facebook users who turn 18 between 28th to 31st December will receive a news feed reminder with birthday wishes, plus encouraging them to register with Election commission and on 30th November a reminder will be sent to everyone who turned 18th this year.

Reminder will be sent in 13 languages – English, Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Punjabi, Bengali, Urdu, Assamese, Marathi and Oriya. There will be a register now button, that will direct the users to National Voters Service portal which will then guide them though the registration process.
