Byond B63 is another dual core handset that runs on the Jelly Bean OS, sports a 4.5 inch touchscreen with qHD resolution and comes with 512MB RAM and 8MP AF camera. The handset is priced at Rs. 9,500.

B63 Box pack
Inside the box you will find the Dual SIM B63 handset, screen guard, handset case cover, battery of 2000 mAh, charger, earphone, warranty card and user manual. The handset is available in white and black colour options.

Design
The handset looks good though the rear white side with matt finish with the Byond logo is not that attractive. The front panel comes with 4 touch sensitive buttons, front camera, in call speaker and sensors. The 3.5mm audio jack is placed on the top, micro USB at the bottom side and power / lock / volume rockers on the right side.

Byond B63 review

CPU + GPU – The MediaTek MT6577 dual core CPU coupled with PowerVR SGX 531 GPU powers this dual SIM handset. The hardware as you all know by now is used on many other handsets like Lava 501, Micromax A110, iBall andi 4.5h, Andi 4.5q etc.

The benchmark scores-

  • Quadrant Benchmark: 2748.
  • Antutu Benchmark: 6153.
  • Nenamark 2:  19.2 fps.
  • Linpack : Single 40, Multi 62.
  • Multi Touch: 5 point.

Camera – The 8MP auto focus camera on the rear shoots good quality images but isn’t that good indoors. The camera can record 720p videos. You can check the sample images and video at the end of the article. The auto focus mode when shooting 720p was a bit wild it would keep auto focusing even when focused.

Entertainment – Download MX player and you will be able to play many video formats. You can also play 720p videos. 1080p videos are not supported.

Others – The handset comes pre-installed with many useful apps one of which is the Multi Ling app that allows users to use Hindi, Marathi, Tamil , Gujarati and many other languages. If you are already using an android handset and want regional languages on the handset check this post.

The handset supports 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS with A-GPS, Bluetooth, 3.5mm jack and micro USB port. USB tethering, Bluetooth tethering and Wi-Fi hotspot are supported.

The loudspeaker volume is quite loud and clear.  You can play many HD games.

Battery – The 2000 mAh battery I think will be sufficient for a decent full day backup with moderate usage.

Conclusion – A good handset with well known hardware, the looks aren’t that great, specially the rear side, the iBall Andi 4.5q in fact looks much better and it also comes with the same hardware and OS. Price of Rs. 9,500 seems good with Jelly bean OS, but the Karbonn S1 seems more lucrative at just over 10K with quad core processor.
