Asus today announced that they will soon start manufacturing Asus smartphones in India. They will setup a local manufacturing plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. The first smartphone that they will make in India will be the popular Zenfone 2 Laser.

The Asus Zenfone 2 Laser got/still getting a really good response. The demand was so high that the company had to prepone the sale. The company had also launched the Zenfone 2 Deluxe, the Zenfone Selfie and the Zenfone Go recently.

Looking at the high demand for the Zenfone 2 Laser it makes sense to manufacture that in India, to begin with. The Laser sports a 5.5 inch screen with 720p resolution. This dual SIM handset is loaded with 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and external micro SD card support.
