by Gogi Rana on February 8, 2011 · 0 comments

If you have not upgraded your WordPress installation, yet, it is time. WordPress 3.0.5 version has been released to the public and your wp-admin interface may already be displaying the message about this new release.

Here is why you should update to WordPress 3.0.5

The new WordPress version comes with several fixes and security updates and enhancements. If you have not encountered any problems with your current version it would still be advisable to upgrade to the latest version. Update process is really simple, just download the release and upload it via FTP on to your server. The installation can also be done automatically from the dashboard but I would suggest we avoid any automated update procedure as it makes your WordPress installation more vulnerable.

Here are some of the bugs that are now fixed in the 3.0.5 version

  • Users that were assigned role of contributor or author faced some problems with titles when using quick / bulk edit option it is now properly encoded and the bug is fixed.
  • HTML filtering is now forced on comment text in admin.
  • License updated to GPLv2 along with copyright information for the KSES library.
  • 2 Moderate security issues fixed, 1 information disclosure issue addressed and 2 security enhancements are added that improves plugin security.
