Those waiting for an android smartphone with 1GB RAM, here is some good news, the Swingtel HelloTab Mini SX5 is here, unfortunately with a single core processor. The pricing details are not known yet.

Swingtel may not be known to many but there are mostly into tablets – the HelloTab brand. They have now launched a 5 inch smartphones and also named it as the HelloTab Mini. The handset runs on android 4.0 OS and comes with good features.

The HelloTab Mini SX5 sports a 5 inch screen with 800×480 pixels resolution with 16M colours. It’s a dual SIM phone with dual standby option. There is 3G support (HSDPA 7.2 Mbps), Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 2.1 and tethering support.

The main highlight is the 1GB RAM with 4GB internal storage of which 2.45GB is available for users. The handset is powered by a single core 1GHz Cortex A9 processor with PowerVR SGX 531 GPU. The handset weighs 220 grams and is 12 mm thin. There are 4 touch sensitive backlit dedicated buttons on the front side.

The Mini SX5 comes with 5 MP camera with autofocus and dual LED flash. There is a front camera too with VGA resolution. The handset is loaded with light, proximity, accelerometer, sound and magnetic sensors.

A 2300 mAh battery gives talktime of about 15 hours and standby time of about 240 hours. The box pack contains an extra battery pack, so in all you get 2 x 2300mAh batteries.

Device configuration looked fine but no professional review anywhere plus, no transparency in there website about after sale service so I had to call them but it was disappointing too.. They said no pick and drop service for Kolkata as there courier service don’t support in West Bengal.

They appear very unprofessional so I’ll advice not to buy from them.

My friend got this mobile recently, it is so heavy i.e. 220 gm. and its camera is so poor, like third class Chinese phone’s camera, super bakwas camera quality and heavy for pocket, its a flop show- big flop.

following was my discussion with swingtel .gogi and friends please have a look

Thanks for your query

1. Processor is Mediatek

2. Processor is Single Core. Android systems are not designed aptly for Dual core. Kindly read several blogs and you will know why Dual core was just a marketing gimmick

All Dual core products have bug of power management and they over heat. You can check the reviews and performance from any customer who has bought dual core product.. Play any game and its all heated up, speak for few hrs and your ears will be heated. The speed is same or even less.

3. Phone Accesses Google Play. But like all, only apps compatible with total device config will get downloaded or if you still insistence on using a certain app, you will need to install from outside.

4. Antutu Benchmark is 3786

5. We don’t compare ourself with Micromax or Karbonn quality or service, so no comment on their products or pricing. Dual Core we have answered the reason we have delayed. We will release dual core only after the bugs and performance is suitable. Since it doesn’t enhance and actually is causing issue in battery and power management, we chose single core. We believe in performance engineering not paper specs. This bug may not get solved soon as feedback from manufacturers of processors.

6. The Hellotab Mini SX5 device comes with 2 battery of actual 2300mAH, 1 Super stylish Headphone . 2 Screen Protect Guards, 4GB MicroSD Card justifying the price apart from its other specs

Customer are more than happy with price and performance and to us , that matters most.

In fact we have released product to just 2 online Portals as we are getting stocked out faster than anticipated and cannot offer to more vendors

Hope we have clarified your queries

Thanks & Regards,

Pragnesh, apparently I am using the Micromax A110 which is dual core, mediatek, does not heat, excellent performance, no bugs, never hanged, excellent battery life.
