Best slide, flyout related post plugin for WordPress

The Slide by SimpleReach and upPrev previous post plugins are probably the best flyout box type plugin for WordPress that not only looks attractive but also helps increase page view. I was using the upPrev plugin for quite some time and then tried the Slide by SimpleReach which has really impressed me.

What exactly does this flyout box type or slide by plugins do?

Imagine a visitor has landed on your page and is reading the content. As soon as the visitor reaches the end of the content (by scrolling) a box will slide out from the bottom right of the screen towards the left screen with post title, image if any and link to a related article.

The slide out box gets immediately noticed by the user they may even be tempted to click on the article and continue reading more pages on your site.

This methods helps reveal quality content to your visitors who will read more thereby increasing the page view and in most cases may even subscribe to your feeds.

Slide by SimpleReach or upPrev? Which plugin is the best?

Though both are equally good I prefer to go with the SimpleReach plugin and here is why. The upPrev plugin only shows the most recent posts with small arrows to move to the next post or the previous post. A visitor who is reading an article on WordPress and when reaches the bottom content, they will see the upPrev box with the next article in the same category.

SimpleReach actually shows the best article in that particular category which is more likely to be clicked than simply showing the next and the previous posts. Moreover you already may be displaying the next and the previous links on your page so it does not make sense to show the same post again.

Slide by SimpleReach is definitely better as it shows the related popular article and the popularity is measured by SimpleReach on their server. SimpleReach keeps track of all the post that are visited and the most frequently visited post are shown more often to the users.

Moreover the Slide by SimpleReach box also contains the Facebook like and Twitter Tweet button that is an added advantage. This plugin also automatically creates a thumbnail of any image that you might have used in your content.

You need to create an account on the SimpleReach.com site to use this plugin as I already mentioned they keep track of URL’s on your site. You can at any time visit the SimpleReach site and view the stats (page views, Impression and clicks).

How to install upPrev previous post plugin

  • Download the upPrev plugin or use add plugin and search for upPrev.
  • If you are using auto plugin install simply install the plugin and activate it.
  • For others once the plugin is downloaded upload it into the plugin folder.
  • Activate the plugin, set it up from left side admin menu and that’s it.

How to install Slide by SimpleReach

  • For auto install simply search for Slide by SimpleReach and then install it.
  • For manual install download Slide by SimpleReach then upload the unzip folder into the plugins directory.
  • Activate the plugin.
  • Then go to Settings -> SimpleReach Slide and set it up.

However for some reason I could not get the plugin to work on the thesis theme and so manually added the script. The process is simple just get the code from simplereach.com site and paste it before the Google Analytics code or before the footer.

"However for some reason I could not get the plugin to work on the thesis theme and so manually added the script. The process is simple just get the code from simplereach.com site and paste it before the Google Analytics code or before the footer."

Can you elaborate on these instructions please? I have the plugin installed on a Thesis site, but can't get it to work . Should I uninstall the plugin? How do I "get the code from simplereach.com site…"? (as you say). I'm not seeing anywhere to do that, and it seems that once the plugin is installed, that wouldn't be the best course of action.

Thanks

Dear reagen,
disable the plugin, the plugin does not work..

Go to the simplereach.com site and look for the javascript code ( general code). Copy it

If you are using thesis you may be using the thesis openhook ( if not i would suggest you install it.)
using the thesis open hook.
Go to After Footer box and paste the code there..
That's it check and see if you get simplereach working

let me know if you still have a problem.
