The Samsung Star 3 Duos S5222 is another dual SIM phone from Samsung that sports a 3 inch capacitive display, comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera and running on proprietary OS with TouchWiz Lite UI 2.0. You can use 2 SIM cards over the 2G network.
The Star 3 Duos S5222 is not a 3G phone and neither does it come loaded with popular OS. This handset is similar to the Samsung Star II Duos C6712 model. If you compare both the models you will find slight difference in the screen size, camera MP resolution, internal memory and the battery mAh capacity.
Samsung Star 3 Duos S5222 features / Specifications
This Samsung handset supports dual SIM with dual Standby (GSM + GSM). The S5222 is available in modern black and white colours with a 3 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen supporting 320 by 240 pixels resolution with 256K colours without multi touch support. The handset comes loaded with TouchWiz Lite 2.0 UI.
The Star 3 Duos weighs 95 grams with 11.5 mm thickness. There are 3 buttons on the front the left call button, the central navigation button and the right cancel / disconnect button. This handset comes with 40 MB internal memory with microSD support up to 32 GB.
There is only one primary camera present of resolution 3.2 MP. This camera can be used for recording videos (not so great) at 15 fps. There is no built in Flash. As far as data connectivity is concerned you will have to do with the 2G network. For browsing GPRS and EDGE networks is support apart from that you can make use of Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n).

The pre-loaded media player supports MP3, WAV audio formats and H.263, H.264, MP4 video formats. For sound output there is a built-in loudspeaker or you can use the 3.5 mm audio jack with external headset. Few games come pre-loaded; more games can be downloaded.
Other features are Bluetooth 3.0, MicroUSB 2.0, WAP 2.0 / XHTML / HTML browser, Hindi language support; SNS enabled (Facebook, Twitter, Gtalk, MSN etc.) and built in FM radio with RDS. The 1000 mAh Li-ion battery gives a decent talktime and standby time.
Overall the phone is a good buy considering the price and dual SIM factor. The 3.2 MP camera quality is nice, touchscreen is smooth and responsive; the sound quality is pretty good. The main disadvantage is no 3G and flash support.

My samsung Star 3 i less than a year old and it has been perfoming well as per the specifications, but of recent the ‘talk level became very low’ people hardly hear me when i talk, but hearing ‘receive level’ is ok, can anyone please suggest smthing…..thanks

I am also an user Samsung Star 3 Duos S5222 model. Well I understand that it is not so user friendly, yet, some of the problems i have resolved which i im sharing here to the help users:
1. Call recording options – present
2. Call conference options – present
3. To use the key board while in call – can be used
All that you have to do to use the above facilities is that you have to press hold the key in the to right side of the phone. This will help you to utilise all the above facilities.

press and hold the power button for a while. Soon the touch screen locked you can access to in-call function keys.

This is a basic dual SIM phone with a added advantage of Wi-Fi. But basically there is no fundamental use of Wi-Fi as this is just having a normal browser.
It supports video recording but not great clarity.
The 3 main advantages I can say
1. Dual sim active
2. Battery talk time is wonderful, you charge and forget for days.
3. 3MP Camera
Don't expect more from a basic phone its not android based phone.
whenever I use internet the phone automatically get switch off, help.
Please tell about the processor and ram of this star 3 duos.

I bought the same model.It is not user friendly at all.
To activate the the loudspeker you should have to hold the key i.e the on/off switch during the call and it will give you some options.
What other options do you get when you press on/off switch, can you list the options please. Is there any option to record a call? I would appreciate your feedback on this. Thanks
You don't have record option here. All you have is loudspeaker, keypad, mute, contacts and hold.
Can you please tell me that while transferring data from Bluetooth, the data will go into phone memory ( which is just 20 mb) or the memory card. And can we install apps from memory card as well.
its depend on setting the path/place where u want to save bluetooth data object by default its phone memory u can change it to location on memory card

Yeh, that's problem with samsung STAR 3, you need to put your call on hold to access anything keypad, numbers.. sms etc
